XP boosters, forced coop content, skipping not only campaign but entire game systems in order to further simplify leveling, shiny cosmetics flooding the game and so on… Diablo 4 is no longer aRPG at all. It’s some weird frankenstein’s monster of MMO and hyper casual clicker.
At this point Diablo 3 feels way more like a proper “Diablo” game tbh.
Because of that at least Blizz could add proper, fully supported SSF mode. They did that for Diablo 3 at the end and it was a fantastic addition to the game.
This way solo - more dedicated players. The ones who want to grind, who miss more immersion of early days of Diablo 4 and SOME challange that it had - Could enjoy the game at their own pace.
Also Citadel sucks - Sorry - no other way around it. You tried, ok - fair enough. But results speak for themselfs. The ONLY people who seem to enjoy forced coop in D4 are streamers.
So again - D4 is becoming more and more hyper casual MMO. But please - At least add SSF with soloable Citadel as gameplay option for those of us who still belive there’s SOME spirit left in the game.
I’d put money down that SSF will not be a thing in D4, aside from them disabling trade for your character. The open world is on servers that allow up to 12 people to join at any given time. It would be akin to the SSF mode they have in WoW right now.
If this is acceptable to you, I fully support your cause.
I’m not saying we can’t, I’m saying they would only disable trade for a SSF mode just like in WoW. I fully support this option. Anything beyond that though, I’d almost guarantee they wouldn’t do based off how the game is currently built.
Keep in mind you can still do everything else in WoW’s SSF mode, including grouping with other people. The only thing you can’t do is trade, use the AH or receive mail from other players.
This would be the compromise they would make for a SSF mode, which I get the feeling some people would want more.
If you play SSF seasons you’re not actually doing anything other than competing against other people who are doing the same thing. That’s it. The idea of a “fully supported” SSF mode is a misnomer, it’s the regular game just with two boxes turned off, no partying and no trading, and I think most people don’t realize the first part. You can’t party up. You cannot play with friends.
This has nothing to do with SSF. This is why it’s a problem to even discuss; most people just don’t really get what it is at it’s base. It’s literally just you not interacting with other people. It has nothing to do with whether you run a campaign or how the game is structured.
Okay, so let’s go over this quick. Two things prevent SSF in D4.
The world map is not an instanced state which supports being alone. You will always have other players interacting with your map because it’s a live open world. So just by that being true you can never play SSF.
The game doesn’t support SSF through it’s intrinsic base designs. You have World Bosses for instance; despite Ashava being a story-boss and a World Boss, The Pestilent is significantly harder to beat on one’s own and is not supposed to be beaten on one’s own on the map. Same with seasons; most are not geared towards singular play and very few open events really bend knee to players just running around on their own unless they are overpowered for the content.
You’re probably right, i spent almost 90% of S6 playing alone all the content (less the WB), with my SB QV build…
…but only after i got stuck with my RG FoK build…
The game is doomed and Blizzard said the game is now in a maintenance mode. They won’t add anything new from here on out that deviates from their current vision. The causal player has won.
While, yes the open world instances are designed for multiple players, none of the content WB or Seasonal quests are hard for a solo player.
After finishing 4 Softcore characters in S6 I then played HC. Did everything (yes even WB) without seeing another player except in towns.
So from that perspective SSF would be possible. When a SSF player enters a WB area, they get a private instance. Then it’s only Helltides and Seasonal “Tides” where you may encounter other players, but I am sure people who play SSF will be OK with that.
They would not be able to play party in Nighmare Dungeons, Boss Dungeons or Pits, which is 90% of play anyway.
Ok, now imagine the servers bloated with handling billions of indepedent worlds for a single user in SSF mode…
If they now are going down, imagine with SSF mode…
