Blizz has already previewed the itemization rework to select content creators

And they say that they like it. Do you believe them?

I don’t want to promote Wudijo’s content by posting links but he’s one of them.

Did you miss the part where they said they were collaborating with content creators to make the itemization rework better? I feel like you haven’t been paying attention lol. Content creators have been working with Blizzard this entire time for the rework, they’re just under a strict NDA until further notice. This isn’t news, Blizzard announced this several months back.

I didn’t hear about it unfortunately.

There were multiple posts about it on these very forums of people complaining that they shouldn’t listen to content creators for ideas, and they’re just going to mess it all up. It was honestly quite a show.

They would certainly take that approach if they had guys like Kojima or Miyazaki at the helm, but that would mean that we wouldn’t get to this in the first place.

Joe Shely was handed what’s remaining of the project to salvage it - he’s not the original director. Must be hard working as that guy.

I don’t like the label ‘content creator.’ Those guys are often highly competent players.

If they weren’t competent than they wouldn’t have a following outside of the few that have successfully created a persona online to appeal to a different type of gamer. You know who they are, so I won’t list the names here.

Also there are a few content partners that some consider creators as well. It would help others if they knew the difference.

I want them to choose Content creators who plays D4 very solid. Not tourist content creators who switch games very fast without deep knowledge on D4.

Not everyone spends every waking hour on these forums like some people

That comes down to who they are paid/sponsored by. Sometimes the creator can dictate their content, other times there are contractual obligations.

Then there are the creators that follow trends instead of dedicating their time to any one particular game, genre or game studio.

Just remember in the end it’s there to serve one purpose only and that is to provide entertainment in exchange for dollars.

The announcement of their collaboration with content creators was made outside of the forums, but ok.

@kkona

They refer themselves as “content creators” and lets be honest, they’re doing it as a job regardless. The fact they are competent at the game is just a bonus.

Itemization seems like a nebulous term to me because I think it means something different to everyone. So if they are working with content creators, seems fine to me cause which of the 1000 other different opinions is the right one?

Yes but you were referring to the forums directly. Lol.

My first post was saying it wasn’t news because Blizzard announced this several months back (not on the forums). My 2nd reply was saying that the forums were talking about it and it was a great show to watch.

I might believe that those content creators like it. Albeit, many of the D4 streamers seem to be overly positive about pretty much anything Diablo. After all their livelihood depends on positive vibes around games like D4.

However, even if they do actually like the new itemization, it worries me. If they think it is good, based on their preferences, it seems likely that it is actually really bad.
I mean, many of these streamers liked D3 itemization…

Not all content creators are competent. Asmonpoop as an example cant even pass the Corpse Ballista. Instead, he made a doom game is broken videos. Some of them needs to be banned on D4. They should keep the Barb nerfed so that Asmonpoop would never come back.

Actually they aren’t if you watch their vids.

The Diablo partners (select content creators) are a bit negative about the game lately.

Oh I agree, was mostly referring to the ones (I hope) that are in collaboration with the devs of D4. I highly doubt they recruited mr. combover for his input on a game he hardly plays. That guy has turned into 90% reaction content and 10% actually playing games.

I’d say it’s a mix, some are positive, some are negative, and some are just losing faith in Blizzard all together.

Sometimes they turn around, when the negativity starts to generate more views.
But D:I might be another example, at the start these streamers hype of a game they must have been able to tell was terrible, they make guides and all that, to get views and clicks.
Then sure, after some weeks they turn around and boycott it.

Just not sure why a “new itemization is actually good” would be any different.

These people are competent in some ways for sure. One of those ways is in creating hype cycles.
