Black bezels on a 3840x1080 screen!

Hello I have a monitor Samsung LC49HG90DMIXCI 3840x1080 and everything was fine - the game was on full screen with no problem but right now after your last patch there appears to be black bezels on the side of the screen! I have every setting in the game as I have it before and resolution is set on the 3840x1080 but right now everything is smaller. Nvidia and all other drivers are updated. I don’t know what to do with those black bezels! Thanks!

You might try deleting your LocalPrefs.txt file in case it has become corrupted. It stores things like graphics and sound settings. The game will create a new one with default values the next time you start it.

It is located in: C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\Diablo IV\LocalPrefs.txt

If that does not fix it, I would post in the Technical Support forum. You can also just move this thread over there by clicking the pencil icon beside the title of your post and selecting Technical Support.

Thank you for your reply, but unfortunately it didn’t help me… it only asked me to set the brightness again and voic settings but the screen was the same.

when you say last patch, when was the last time you played before updating D4?

was it during beta or server slam or have you played in the last few weeks?

I was playing on the 28th of June and everything was fine, then I didn’t play for eleven days because of the business trip and I came back on 10th of July and launched the Diablo 4 update and black bezels appeared…

By default, because your display is a 32:9 aspect ratio the game will have letterboxing on the sides. The game only officially supports up to 21:9, with the rest being obscured by the letterbox pillars. The best you can do is try running in Windowed (non-fullscreen) mode and seeing if that works. Otherwise, this is expected behaviour.

But it was fine few weeks ago with no problem, full screen, perfect gameplay on my 49inch screen…

Small correction: the game works without black bars up to 27:9 (or 3:1). So 32:9 is “almost” there.

Same problem here was full screen until recent update

Black bezels are permanent, Diablo has damaged your monitor! Like it does damage CPUs, GPUs, cooling fans, monitors and even unplugged devices on the desk next to the computer. All according to latest forum reports.

Pretty sure the game has had black bars past 27:9 ratios since the beginning. Was it possible your image was stretched or zoomed, in order to fill your screen? I kind of find it unlikely you were playing in properly scaled, 32:9, as the devs themselves months ago said/confirmed 27:9 is the limit at that you will have black bars on a 32:9 monitor. Even others who also play on 32:9 monitors have confirmed there are black bars.

If you genuinely did play at 32:9 full screen with no odd scaling/zooming, well it was unintentional, going off of what the devs said previously, so I guess they’ve “fixed” it.

Nobody believe me here) but I have a screenshot somewhere on my computer with perfect play on a 49’ screen without black bars and no picture scratch and so on
