I have deeply analyzed this Season 8, and besides the problem of balance of the builds and the increased difficulty that makes obsolete the vast majority of Builds, which I will discuss in another post, “Another big problem is that most of the damage comes from the boss powers”, that is to say it is not the build or your skills that do damage it is the boss skills of the season, and that is the only way to do damage, since the abilities themselves of the classes feel very weak, I think this got out of hand and these radical changes do not have a basis or a direction, only putting numbers here and there but without a deep analysis of the game, no clear balance on anything, and lack of progress in the endgame.
The Dots damage, all over times damages come from Boss Powers in Season 8 do Billon and Trillon damage, Basically your skills are obsolete, you only use them as a utility, not as a source of damage, the damage comes from the bosses’ powers, and that is always a terrible and horrifying design, before most of the damage came from your skills and the season skills enhanced your skills just to make them stronger, in this case the skills feel very weak and all the damage comes from the bosses powers.
IDK what character you have but for me it’s not even close (I got some lightning zaps that happen every now and then to close targets but it’s far from being the biggest DPS source)

My point is who has this ?, saw a few people with Max level but I don’t think they have the full paragon (or maybe they do, not sure, I’m 51 ATM and tried all boss powers didn’t strike me as OP)
The Boss Powers do Billons and Trillons of Damage over time per second, see the Rob2628 stream rght now and you see with your own eyes, or on the PTR make a powerful character quickly, there is already a special vendor that gives you unlimited items, materials and levels your character, try it for yourself if you don’t want to see the streamers
It can, yeah.
I’m not sure how the powers scale with paragon, I just got to 60 right when the boosts came out, so haven’t gotten to play around with it. So still waiting on the maths of those equations.
Does seem like some of the bigger powers are going to absolutely destroy, though. The percentages are crazy.
indeed. look at those 1mil, 2mil, … 7mil boss damage numbers that scale with character level and paragon, it’s essentially straight up replacing character skill damage outright.
it’s like an Olympic sprint where athletes are driving supercars.
Blizzard are a bunch of bumbling oafs. Stumbling and bumbling all over the place.
“10% in T4!” Whoops boss powers do trillions of damage. Whoops!
Absolute nincompoops. Provide PTR feedback that boss powers shouldn’t do that much and see if they “we are hard at work, listening to feedback!” Or if they stumble again.
Like holding a stack of folders and walking down the hallway then tripping over your own shoelaces and papers go flying all over the place and your hip replacement gives out and you need assistance getting off the floor. That’s Blizzard.
Changed this patch to go all the way to 300. On the surface that sounds odd considering their stated design goals would make it much harder to achieve a 300 season, but I suspect they just want to test the upper limit of these powers more thoroughly. They tend to overturn seasonal powers in the PTR for this reason and this paragon change may be evidence they’re doing it again.
Andariel boss power is ridiculous.
Half cooked build and I reach burning damage of 500 billion per tick.
Combined lightning spear + with half burning build and some changes. To get as many as casts/spells out that each one of them apply the burning, paragon and glyph focus on burning damage as well.
I tried S7 Bloodwave on PTR, steamrolled T4. No Mythics. No boss powers. Cleared P92. 215 Paragon.
I did Ice Shards from S7 (no new hat), did “okay” in T4. Eats T4 in S7 w/Witch Powers. No Mythics. No boss powers. Didn’t do any Pit (too much density hinders it).
I think the “you won’t make it to T4” reports are exaggerated. But I do 100% believe “you won’t make it in T4” without a decent build and some GA items. By decent I mean using appropriate Aspects and Uniques.
I’ve tryed my current S7 T4 DT rogue build in PTR T4, and in plain vanilla, without any boss powers, i could survive…
It’s a little bit harder, but nothing unreachable…
So all those doomsday S8 prophets are really only having too much ado about nothing…
