I haven’t had a whole lot of time to play right now; I’ve only just recently hit level 70. I am hoping to have a little bit more time to play once S1 drops. So, I am hoping to get some tips on how/where to farm experience. I mainly play solo, but I do occasionally play with 1-2 other people.
Nightmare dungeons. Monsters 3 levels above you are the most efficient. Take you level and subtract 51. That’s the tier nightmare you should be farming for xp. So 70 - 51= 19. I would personally do tier 21 in world tier 4 to start though.
Thanks!
I’ve only been trying to get my Renown done for my Eternal characters - moreso “wasting” time until the season starts - for now. But, I wanted to try to be a bit more prepared on how to level quickly once the season actually starts.
Get in a group with two other people running through NMDs as fast as possible. Do not loot anything and just do the end glyph experience. Once done, leave the dungeon and start a new one. Rinse, repeat until desired level.
This is the most boring leveling in any game I have ever played.
Yeah, and I’m sure there are several others out there just like me who feel like we’re in a lull before the season starts. I also plan to abandon my current class to try something new for the season. Unfortunately, I only have time to really focus on one class at a time.
I would wait until Level 84 to really worry about experience. Just do what you like until then. Please explain.
Presuming what I have read is correct, the amount of experience for Level1-85 and 86-100 are the same. So, if you think getting to 70 is a slog, imagine having to repeat the same amount of time in order to get to level 85. At that point, you have to be prepared for the amount of time or you need to farm experience.
Grouping yields a XP bump, elixirs give an XP bump, WT4 gives an XP bump above that given by WT3.
At 70 you have completed less than 25% of the xp you need to get to end game (level 100). After you get the ancestrals/aspects you need for your build (usually by level 75), you are only farming for paragon points. After 100 there is no end game, nothing to do, no reason to push. Game is over. Start a new (seasonal) character if you like this game loop.
Unfortunately, Blizzard made another group meta game. But not just a group meta game. A game where you essentially are rewarded 10 fold by simply playing in easy mode – which is group play. So if you don’t already have a premade social clique of mutual carriers, your time spend in this game is fairly pointless. Solo play is a laughable detail compared to the xp rewards of group play. There is literally no point to solo play.
I suppose I am not terribly concerned with hitting level 100; but, don’t certain uniques only start having a chance to drop after level 85 or something like that?
Group of 4, doing nightmares tiers at minimum (your level - 51), plus elixirs. You can level up ridiculously fast this way, if you continue chaining dungeons and get into a rhythm so you can go fast.
Also, certain NM dungeons are really, really bad, and not even worth your time to run. You can look on maxroll, there is a tier list of dungeons for both solo and group farming. Generally you should run anything in either A or S tier preferably.
Additionally, if you really want to maximize xp, certain dungeon events are good, while others are bad. The good ones I believe are last stand, wandering soul, cursed wells, and cursed chests. All other events, as well as cursed shrines, are really inefficient for xp and not worth doing if you are trying to level.
According to what I have read, there is a greater chance of Uniques dropping in WT2. Additionally, Sacred only drop in WT3 and Ancestral only drop in WT4. However, as before, you only need these items if you are aiming for an End Game build.
Similarly, Uber Uniques (Grandfather, Harlequin Crest {aka The Shako}, etc. are only available with enemies Level 85 or higher. So, dungeons that are 3+ your level if you are Level 82 should drop Uber Uniques. However, the chance of these dropping (even after fixing the fix) is still rather slim. As such, you only worry about these items if you are aiming for End Game.
Rax just released a video pointing out that Temple of Rot is the stronghold that gives most exp and Onyx hold gives tons of items.
Can you redo strongholds?
Yes — Just don’t complete them all the way. Look up Raxx Season 1
Run nightmare dungeons!
Hell Tides are better xp than rushing 50s.
