You read my mind. My thoughts on using a guide are, if you just follow a guide and dont have a good understanding on how everything works, when a big class change happens you will be lost. Not to say everyone who follows a build guide doesn’t have an understanding on gear, spells etc. Two of my friends have quit due to the builds they copied not performing as they were shown. They had no idea what did what and only saw the maxed out build with paragons, legendary, uniques etc build. A large part is also how you use your spells, how to set up a pack, play both offensive and defensive etc… if you learn on your own or even just use the guides as a learning tool you will fair much better. Esp if the day comes you have to do a major respect and no guides exist at that point. Plus its so much more satisfying to learn and grow your own build. Opens up so much more for you in the game.

Avoid youtube people the most, they are just trying to get clicks and advertising revenue, remember that you are the product, they want you to not think and sit like a lump and watch their videos, and overstate things, why every build is BROKEN OP THE MOST DAMAGE!
They also stretch out videos to earn more money, so always have these long intro and outro parts, and ramble on and on about unrelated topics.

They steal the content and builds of other people, like myself. I had a few of my builds stolen by the community at large over the last few months.

If you have to use a build go to reddit.

Reddit is probably the best source reddit .com /r/d4necromancer and /diablo4builds and /diablo4 are the main subreddits.

The best way to learn though is to play the game and work on your critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills, something most people sadly neglect almost entirely, and is not really taught in schools in any capacity. Figure out the game and build yourself.

Even using a build made 100% by another person, you will undoubtedly modify it some, just due to the nature of never getting exactly the same combination of items.

I use the build sites like maxroll just to see if there is gear or other things I might not have thought about. Rarely do my builds resemble anything on those sites in the end.
Streamers and YouTube? Nope. They are all about making money and they have 4 other people playing one character 24/7 to get the best rolls, BiS gear and max out paragon, stuff a normal everyday player will never reach. Just look at some of the streamers videos. Every 10 seconds or so you can see the splice in the video so what these streamers are talking about is well scripted and their target audience is the player that plays games all day, everyday.
