I can’t find an updated list anywhere on the internet but these values should be very similar:
Masterworking lvl 1-4: 300 Rawhide
Masterworking lvl 5-8: 500 rawhide
Masterworking lvl 9-12: 800 rawhide
The current best way to farm Rawhide are uber bosses with around 6000 Rawhide/Hour if your full rota takes 2 minutes (including sell downtime).
If you want to double hit a legendary item with tempers on it, it’ll (mathematically) take:
25 Rolles for the first hit
5 Rolles for the second hit
That results in (300*25)+(500*5) = 10,000 Rawhide
It takes 1.6 hours (48 rotas) of uber bosses grinding to get double hit on one item (keep in mind that this is only calculating the time to get the Rawhide materials, not the obducite and it’s not including the time to get the boss materials)
It becomes even crazier for triple-hitting:
125 Rolles for the first hit
25 Rolles for the second hit
5 Rolles for the third hit
(300*125)+(500*25)+(800*5) = 54,000 Rawhide
This takes atleast 9 hours (270 rotas) of non-stop uber bosses grinding without including the downtime from farming boss materials or waiting for players in the party finder.
You may have “many Rawhide” now because you didn’t start hitting stats at masterworking (in other words, you aren’t in Endgame) but even 50k Rawhide gonna burn in 5 minutes.
After that you’ll be down to 0 and everytime you get a better piece of gear for your set, you’ll firstly have to grind uber bosses.
EDIT: People under here are still saying there is no issue with rawhide. Either bait posts or you aren’t near Endgame and have no right to contribute to this topic.

I wonder how drop rates are “planned” in that office. Is it a ouija session? A spin-wheel thingy? Genuine question (aside from the sarcasm).
Surely it’s methodical & based on observed drop rates during normal play (ie “testing”), no? Yes?
People are already quitting because they feel like their time isn’t being respected with regards to farming masterwork materials, primarily rawhide and iron chunks.
And it’s apparently unimportant to D4’s leadership as evidenced by their pathetic latest patch, which only provided an insignificant amount of rawhide/iron chunks from overworld and dungeon mobs.

Oh … you mean you have to farm to get better gear? Wow, who’d-a-thunk in a gear farming game?

isn’t it funny that the only mats that can’t be duped is an issue.
shocking.

I never understood why whispers dont have more options.
There should be a choice to get any specific material instead of the 3 choices we have now.
Hordes should have chests with specific materials as well.

this is the funny part. the people crying rmt’d their gear and are now crying about the mats they have to farm by actually playing the game. meanwhile those of us farming our gear have tons of mats for the gear we earn

I have no Rawhide issues. I’m already para 263 and my non-meta SB can do Pit 110. I think I am in endgame now. I haven’t perfected all my MW.
Or do you mean perfecting MW is the endgame?
If you are doing Pit 100s and above you are already in endgame. In fact if we consider Blizzard’s terminology, if you are in T4 you are in endgame.

Obducite is there for a reason. That’s the material you have to farm for masterworking.
This Rawhide (and Iron Chunk) problem only exists in this season.
Nobody is complaining about farming. We are complaining because it takes ~20 hours to get triple hit on one piece of gear. Especially when we’re talking about a common material.
They will fix it within the next week. But every post about this problem helps for the priority.

Good information. This is why I never bother with rerolling masterworking. Whatever rolls, rolls and I go with it. The way I play this game does not require any GA’s or perfect rolls on everything in order to beat tormented bosses and Lilth and finish out the battle pass.
I can see those that want to push the pits to breakpoint needing a ton of materials though to masterwork this stuff to perfection. Enjoy farming

You’re scaring me, dude
I’m not even near endgame and RH are allready a problem.
Believe or not, but people actually masterwork gear that’s not perfect. Shocker, I know!
100+ Hours. Paragon 260. Hundreds of pits runs. Dozens of Horde runs. Countless runs for boss mats. Countless TB kills. Still sitting on 1GA gear with wrong stats. Aspect index has maybe 4 max stats recorded. Everything Masterworked to 12!/12 but nothing with the correct crits, and 50% of all that was farming for common material.
That is not how a game should be balanced, where half your grind consists of farming two items.
You know it’s bad when people are farming to run Tormented bosses, not for Mythics, but for rawhide, and iron chunk, lol.

Thank you, I would love to make a post every two minutes regarding this. It is just taking out the fun of it all. Yesterday I spent two hours farming the chest in Altar of Rot. I’m now just staying offline, until I see some hotfix for it. I’ve played hundreds of hours this season. And to the people that don’t have a problem → You are not playing the same game as we are. If you don’t care about the masterworking system, that’s fine, but this thread is exactly about that.

In the realm of Sanctuary, where darkness and light eternally clash, a peculiar hero emerged - Spirit Boi. His fists, imbued with ethereal power, could punch through even the toughest demons. Yet, his quest for ultimate strength led him on an unexpected path.
Spirit Boi found himself crawling across the scorched earth, searching for a most peculiar treasure: rawhide. It seemed Blizzard had a secret stash, hoarding these seemingly insignificant strips of leather. Why? The answer remained shrouded in mystery, fueling Spirit Boi’s determination.
As he gathered his rawhide hoard, a peculiar sight caught his eye. A blacksmith, his face contorted in amusement, watched Spirit Boi’s efforts with glee. This was no ordinary blacksmith; he was the guardian of the endgame’s true challenge: crafting.
Spirit Boi approached the blacksmith, eager to forge his newfound power into legendary weapons. But the blacksmith had other plans. He presented Spirit Boi with a peculiar contraption: a shiny crafting lever. With a mischievous grin, he invited Spirit Boi to pull the lever and witness the magic unfold.
With each pull, the lever would spin, and a random outcome would appear. Sometimes, it was a glorious upgrade. Other times, it was a downgrade so disastrous that Spirit Boi would groan in frustration. The blacksmith’s laughter echoed through the chamber, growing louder with each failed attempt.
As Spirit Boi’s patience waned, the blacksmith’s amusement reached a crescendo. He rolled on the ground, clutching his sides, his laughter so uncontrollable that it seemed he might need a divine intervention. Spirit Boi, initially annoyed, couldn’t help but crack a smile at the blacksmith’s antics.
And so, the endgame of Diablo 4 Season 6 unfolded: a hilarious dance between a determined hero, a mischievous blacksmith, and a shiny crafting lever that held the fate of legendary gear. It was a tale of perseverance, frustration, and ultimately, the sheer absurdity of the quest for power in Sanctuary.

They need to either really increase the drop rate and amount, lower the number needed to craft with or the best: just get rid of it altogether. If you farmed the obulcites it should just cost gold to MW.

That’ll be gone in 10 minutes of masterworking btw
It’s funny whenever mid-/lategame player thinks they have many rawhide. You don’t.

Been playing since day 1, paragon level 250 now. I don’t go for perfect master working unless I have 2 stars. Don’t waste your mats on going for perfect master working on every 1 star ancestral you find and you will never run out of mats… Still have thousands and I have 3 pieces of 2 star gear with perfect master working upgrades.
Play smarter people
really because i masterworked all my gear to 12/12 with double crits in important stats and only spent like 15k of each. if you are the type of sheep that sees what a streamer does and thinks you have to triple crit everything then you have to farm and work for that. it shouldnt be handed to you
