So, we know there are 27 free tiers, and 63 premium tiers.
Has there been any definitive word regarding if they’re simultaneous or cumulative? As in, you have 63 tiers total to get through, 1-27 being for both; or if youll have to get through 90 tiers?
You have 90 tiers total to get through.
There are 90 total and the free ones are mixed in with those 90. I did a post the after the last dev stream where they showed images of the battlepass showing tiers 1-20.
Basically tiers 2,5,8,11,12,15,20 were free and the rest were paid. I am guessing that after tier 15 they pretty much are at 5 level intervals for free because that would get you about the right amount.
Check out overwatch 2 battle pass it will most likely be like that, you have to still level through all 90 levels and you will get the free rewards. OW2 works like this, if you pay you get the in between rewards (premium), if you double pay (premium plus) you skip 20 levels and get other free cosmetics.
Question on the “skip”, what exactly are you skipping? Doesnt the battle pass leveling keep to same pacing of character level and you need to level up anyway. So what does paying to skip technically do?
I have not seen the premium tier yet and tbh I am unsure what the point of the free tier vs the premium tier is. Especially from a value point.
Ill have to see it in game to form an opinion.
This is my guess, based on what they said. Basically the free tiers are sprinkled in amongst the premium tiers.
So Like: Free, Premium, Premium, Premium, Free, Premium, and so on.
If you don’t have premium you just don’t get anything when you unlock a premium tier. Once you get to the free ones you do.
The free tiers have ashes and stuff used in game. The premium ones are just cosmetic goodies. If you go back and decide to go premium later, every one you already passed and didn’t get anything for previously will be retroactively unlocked.

Just gives you the first 20 things right away. So basically you get like 17 cosmetics instantly. The other 3 are Ashes you can use for boosts which are locked to character level so you shouldn’t be able to access them until other people do too.
They showed images of some of the armor, mount barding, and weapon skins during the last dev stream. If that sort of thing doesn’t appeal to you it can just be skipped. You still get a few transmogs with the free tier.

Paying to skip entitles you to skip the premium tiers (which are all cosmetic), regardless of your level. You cannot not skip the free tiers given that they are level locked.
