Does anyone else have the issue when using left click as ur basic skill, i feel like it picks up targets too easily and when im trying to move around and get away from things, ill just sit there spamming puncture. Im running rapid shot and need to move quite alot but keep getting into moments where ill just continue shooting puncture instead of moving, is there a way to lower sensitivity to target selection on basic skills, or should i remap my skills?
I am a console player so haven’t experienced this as movement is tied to thumbstick (still have targeting issues, but not movement ones, at least not attached to this issue).
That being said I have noticed that when something is tied to the same button as the basic skill (for console it’s the action button, eg for looting, opening chests, etc) if there is a mob anywhere near you, your basic skill will almost always take precedent over the other function.
My suggestions are:
- Remap the function
- Check the settings to see if you can totally turn off auto-target - I know you can adjust how it works but I honestly can’t remember if you can completely turn it off (also it might be different for PC than it is for console)
I recently remapped my basic to mouse 5 instead of left click, it helped immensely!
Make use of the force move function under gameplay control options.
It’s an input that only moves your character and absolutely nothing else. Extremely helpful for builds that have ranged builders and melee spenders, for example.
I bound my force move to mouse4 on my Logitech, but I think it’s worth even investing into having it take up a nice button on controller.
It takes a bit to get used to if you didn’t use it in D3 or are new to the option, but once you get the muscle memory down, it’s a huge QoL improvement.
I play on both console and pc—console is much better for this (or controller on pc) because you only use the basic attack button for interacting and damage, left stick for movement. You can create this scenario on pc by binding force move to your mouse, and interact/attack to different buttons.
Even on controller i use right on the dpad to “interact” so i dont constantly pick up sacreds or gems on the ground while im fighting. Took a little getting used to but was well worth it.
