Base game on bnet, expansion on steam work?

I have D4 on Bnet, if I buy ONLY the expansion on steam can I play on steam too since its cross platform shared progress or do I need to buy the bundle?

I’m going to say you need to buy the bundle, because you don’t own the game on steam.

What if I have the base game in both steam and bnet, will I need to buy the expansion in both platforms too?
