Filthy Casual here, just wanted to throw together some quick feedback.
1.) Deafening Chorus is a game changer.
- It makes playing the game feel so silky smooth. It’s an absolute treat to level with. I am going to probably never come back to play this game again if future seasons do not have this built in and accessible early game to level with. I wish I was kidding.
- It solves so many frustrating components of this game.
- Playing without 100% uptime on unstoppable + easy access to unhindered sucks.
- Being faster than that stupid clunky god awful slow disaster of a buggy spaghetti code jankfest of a horse is basically mandatory to play this game.
- Having to build around CD reduction to use Shouts still creates gaps where your shouts are down and the gameplay feels bad till they’re up again… it also makes leveling suck because you don’t have access to that stuff early on and it just makes leveling a complete slog for absolutely no reason.
2.) Brain over Brawn Is also a game changer.
- It makes leveling really chill. You’re super tanky and it makes your overpowers hit really hard. It’s just good fun.
3.) I really think all melee skills should cleave 100% of the time.
- I miss being able to level with Bash + the cleave tempers. It was super simple dopamine. It felt good - and there is absolutely no reason for it not to be a thing.
- Having to build around either Pain Gorgers or Hooves of the Mountain God would be fine - but a bunch of things don’t work well with them… like Deafening Chorus doesn’t work with Hooves of the Mountain God, and a bunch of things won’t proc Pain Gorgers… which really limits me in playing the way I want to.
- Another problem, is that in order to use these I have to get to level 60 first… which means I have to level with something that ISN’T what I want to play. I hate this about ARPGs. I don’t want to grind levels on something that doesn’t play like the character I want to build. It feels like a waste of time.
- The whole point of this game is to print dopamine. There is a whole other ARPG for me to play when I want to have someone stomp on my dopamine for the sake of a vision – and when I want that, I’ll go play that game. But when I’m playing D4 – I’m here to zoom with no investment, right from the get go.
4.) Power Creep I am here for it. There is a reason I love games like Vampire Survivors and MegaBonk. I absolutely love when I can get most of my build online really early while I’m leveling… and then commit crunchy screen wide explosions and turbo level.
5.) Single Minded Fury This one needs some love. You’re giving up 2 two handers worth of weapon slots, part of your class special, and not getting to pick one of the other stronger chaos perk options. It limits build creativity by cutting out tempers/aspects/uniques you could use… and its really hard to justify. It kinda funnels you into doing something with Rupture which already overpowers… and Rupture is super clunky to use… half the time the explosion doesn’t go off if you kill stuff with the first part of the stab… and it’s awkward to use on a single target I dunno. I was a bit disappointed with it compared to the other options, I wanted to like it more than I did.
I have some generic feedback for the game as a whole too:
1.) I think aspects / tempers shouldn’t be tied to gear, they should just be tied to the slot, so I can swap my gear on the fly without it having to be a whole thing every time I get an upgrade.
2.) Aspects shouldn’t reset on new seasons – I don’t wanna refarm them, I just wanna zoom.
3.) Gear shouldn’t have a level requirement. If I find a cool unique for an alt, lemme equip it at level 1 so I can actually level with the playstyle I want. I don’t care if it makes me overpowered. That is half the fun of making alts, to twink them out and zoom.
4.) Primary stat should auto swap to whatever class you’re on so you can gear alts fast.
5.) Sweet mother of god you need to give us more stash tabs. I don’t care what spaghetti code exists that prevents that. You’re Blizzard, hire someone to fix it – or just make a new one entirely that isn’t stupidly tiny and then deprecate the old one.
6.) Give me an option to play in the overworld without other people. They don’t make the game more interesting, I wanna play alone. If they have to be there, just make them like spectres in Dark Souls – have them run around but not able to interact with my mobs.
7.) Get rid of the Temper limit/Potion to reset the tempers. Just let me temper till I get the thing I want ffs.
8.) I would like templates for my setup/gear/paragon board/talents. That way if I wanna try a new build I don’t feel like I need to make 12 barbarians so I don’t mess my OG character up.
That about sums most of my scrub feedback.
The TL;DR - I just wanna go fast and play the way I wanna play right off the rip.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
Except it doesn’t work with anything that proc’s based on max fury from what I can tell. So kinda useless in those cases (Deafening Chorus).

What do you mean? Does Limitless Rage and Edgemasters not work with Deafening Chorus?
It works with the twisters, but I would love for Deafening Chorus to proc more things too – specifically things that proc off max fury like Hooves of the Mountain God.
It doesn’t proc Hooves of the Mountain God for one, at least not properly. If remove DC, I do a lot more damage. Anything I’ve used that procs off of Ma x Fury doesn’t seem to work right. I haven’t been using Limitless Rage or Edgemasters so not sure on them.
Hopefully it’s an oversight and it will be fixed to work the way you would think.
Yeah, you would think the way it lists your Fury that the 60% value (61/61 is my current value) would be your new max and it would proc things requiring max fury to proc. But it doesn’t seem too.

As much as Deafening Chorus is a huge QoL improvement, there are so many things for Barbarian that pushes you to have a really high Resource Pool. Siphoning also at face value is great at x100% Damage, but it lowers your Max Fury by 20 every time you click a Core Skill.
Adaptability, Ramas, Hooves, Banished Lords, Red Ring, Power Kick, Locrans, etc. all give you huge bonuses for having a high Resource pool. Chaos Ramas alone is x300% max damage with 500 resource (granted this is really hard to achieve and comes with its own tradeoffs, you might hit 400ish). Locrans is x100% max damage.
So, sure you can have x40% or so from War Cry always and x100% from Siphoning, but you end up losing huge amounts of damage in the tradeoff. In my opinion, Deafening Chorus is great from a quality of life and leveling, but not great for Pit Pushing.

I don’t like the idea of not being able to play with all the cool resource stacking mechanics… but giving up QoL to do harder content is pretty much a deal breaker for me personally. Ideally I’d like to not need to run Deafening Chorus for the game to feel good. Obviously that is subjective, but not needing to interface with the shouts and getting the benefits from them makes the game feel better.
But that really just exposes a larger problem with D4 for me personally. Playing the game without Unstoppable + Unhindered sucks. Being slow and squishy also sucks – and having to grind that way for 60 levels just to get the gear required to make the build actually start to feel fun is a massive waste of time spent doing something that wasn’t fun.
I dunno. I hope they use this feedback to move the game in a more QoL focused direction. Cause if I gotta deal with a bunch of crappy mechanics before I can actually enjoy the game – I’m just not gonna play.
Knowing Blizzard it’s pretty much wishful thinking. They’re just going to do the lowest effort possible, and Deafening Chorus will probably turn into a Unique or Mythic item next league that makes it so that you can’t level with it… and it will probably be weaker or have a worse drawback.
Bleh.
A new unique fashioned after chorus would be great. Maybe have the shouts remaining unbuffed, but each shout triggers all other unequiped shouts. Have it set so shouts get no benefits from cooldown reduction. So with triple shout equiped you can have 95% uptown if you rotate properly.
No doubt with blizzard it would fit the head slot so it would be ruined.
I think it should be an aspect or something unlocked in paragon. There is too much reliance on uniques as it is.

Piano Keying and uptime is the issue. A Third Blade Weapon Mastery Build that tosses in Rupture to alternate between attacks with Fists of Fate and Rage of Harrogath will have Shouts active at all times. It still does not feel good. Having 3 Shouts on your bar also is not very enjoyable and limits build potential.
This Season in particular is weird for Barbarian.
- A Beast Cornered is terrible for High Fury Pool and High Fury cost builds. To counteract it, you really want to use this with Marred Guard, but need enough EHP on top to warrant having only 50% Max HP. This comes with Resource Cost Reduction, Unconstrained, and of course, Deafening Chorus for the 70%+ DR and permanent Fortify.
- They have a lot of ways to stack Fury pool now with Chaos Armor and Ramas as Armor, but Deafening Chorus and Power Siphoning suck for it. Also, as noted above, ABC is not great with this. Single Minded Fury or Chaos Unleashed is basically only option. Alternating still works for it. Most other Chaos Powers are not good.
- Brawn Over Brains requires Marred Guard and a ton of DR and HP stacking to get enough EHP to compensate. The problem here is the best reliable method of gaining Overpowers, which BoB supports, is using a High Max Fury and High Fury use build using Unbridled and Lucions primarily coupled with Banished Lords. That is difficult to plan for and afford only to gain x125% Overpower Damage.
- Brawn Over Brains basically requires it to be attached to Marred Guard and Deafening Chorus to come close to balancing the ENORMOUS Defensive Penalty. As stated earlier, Deafening Chorus is antitethetical to High Max Fury and use builds. The weird thing though is Brawn Over Brains has a huge Healing component to it…but Marred Guard caps you at 50% Max HP. Invigorating Fury / Starlight got nerfed a long time ago, otherwise if it counted towards Healing Received could be really good - missed opportunity Blizzard.
- Brawn Over Brains having Barrier Support is cool but Barbarian only has Iron Skin for that natively. Taking Defensive Aspects or Soulbrand/Temerity is a huge Damage Drop.
- Alternating requires 1 Core Skills, and anyone using Core Skills probably is using Whirlwind because it does not Overpower. Limitless gets consumed though which sucks. For x50% Damage Bonus, you might sacrifice more along the way. Single Minded Fury counters this and allows you to use HoTA for a x40% permanent buff on top of the x50% for Alternating though.
- SMF is a mess. It can almost work but Barbarian is built on the Arsenal system. Third Blade, Hellhammer, and Fields of Crimson should be added as Chaos Armor. There really isn’t anything that supports all of the bonuses from SMF. The only thing that would, would be a Berserk Ripping Brawling/Bleed Build but it requires more Aspects than you have room for. You have to use a 2H just to make Berserk Ripping viable. You lose Shattered Vow as an option. It is just so weirdly conceived.
- Too many mandatory Passives. War Path and Belligerence are requirements. This forces you to take a Basic and have a reliable means of Overpowering constantly. Couple that with Wallop, Heavy Handed, and Brute Force which overwhelmingly pushes you toward a 2H Direct Damage build using Bludgeoning and it is kind of lame. There is a MASSIVE disparity in what viable builds can be due in a large part to how Passives are designed. Swords, Polearms, Axes, Dual Wield get shafted. Prior to S10 you could use Duelist, Wallop, 1H Mace and Ramas (except for Third Blade Builds) as an alternative to Heavy Handed and Brute Force.
- Single Minded Fury means you cannot use WA or Swaps. WA is one of the few new ways for permanent Unstoppable. The other is Deafening Chorus which used with SMF definitely makes Siphoning not possible either. Siphoning is already sort of off the table because you would take SMF so you can spam a single attack.
- Some Skills have way better Upgrades that make them obvious choices over others. Furious Upheaval prompts you to weave in an AoE every other attack which is probably going to be WW to not completely bork Overpower charges. The alternative is Violent Upheaval which…gives you Berserking if you hit multiple enemies lol. Who designed this?

Deafening Chorus needs to stay after Season into Eternal Realm.

Yeah, I’d like to see it as an Aspect, even if they reduce the buff to say 10-25%.

It should replace the Technique system. Remove it from the Skill Tree and have your upgrades reside there allowing you flexibility in how you support your character.
Hub and Spoke interface system with Deafening Chorus in the middle.
Rallying Cry, Challenging Shout, and War Cry branches. Each branches modifying how these components work. If you are missing Fortify, or Barrier or a method to Gain Overpowers it would all be there. Obviously the system would not let you have everything so you would tailor it to your build.
Aspects, Paragon, and Passives would only have to be reworked slightly. The Skill Tree gets new Skills added which are desperately needed that are more fun than Shouts.

Yeah, that would be a good system and allow for even more expansion and variety in abilities. All the passives could move there as well and be easier/quicker to find.
