Barbarians are getting buffed

“We don’t want a player who creates a Barbarian to feel weak at low levels,” Shely explains. "So we need to balance the class so that their strength at the end game is realised in that they are powerful, but without making the game unfair at low levels.

lol… it was fine for me, my barb hits like a truck and still outlives the horde of enemies. I would show you but the game always froze or disconnected when I tried to stream to my youtube page.

Clearly an attempt to pacify the masses. They also said Barbarian can be one of the strongest classes in the game after level 25.

Barbarians stacking thorns or bleeds were completely busted. People just didn’t bother to try out new stuff/

I am all for this.

Not saying Barb is unplayable right now for a good player, but I have both a barb and a sorcerer and there can be no doubt that Barb has a much steeper learning curve.

I’d like to see all classes have roughly the same difficulty and learning curve or, if they don’t, make it clear up front in character creation which classes are harder, maybe by adding a line in the class selection page for the difficulty of the class.

Fixed link. Just use the “preformatted text” option when making a post to post accurate links.

Should note it has comments about sorcerers too. Not lightning as people have been screeching about, but frost sorcs looking towards the nerf bat.

I suspect it will be Blizzard, too much easy damage.

game’s not even out yet and I’m getting balancing remorse :sob:

I mean, literally the only purpose I can see behind this buff is to satisfy the vocal minority. People will blow through these levels in like a day on launch and none of it will matter in the end.

They can buff them in a manner that doesn’t impact their strength at end game. Simply making more/different codex of power aspects available early on from low-level dungeons is one knob they can turn.

Barb is probably the class I’m least interested in, but tweaking the level 1-20 experience to be smoother doesn’t bother me at all. I’d rather see that than nearly everyone avoiding Barb.

Sometimes a dev just needs to say no to bad ideas, and this is a bad idea.

Out of the three classes I played, the difficulty on barbarian was the most enjoyable.

Watering it down to be like rogue or sorc is disheartening.

lol, barbarians gonna be so overpowered. I think I could have already beaten the game with just Lunging Strike and Rend.

that was about the only way atm because every other build felt like he was a squishy mage

This was probably more so due to streamers like Asmongold and Krip making a pretty big deal about it. Asmongold even went as far as creating a fully geared Sorc to make his case. Krip spoke about it in an hour long video in which most of it was being very critical of D4

Problem is that people want the Barb to be you know a Barbarian, smash things, hit things shout at things while hitting them, not a dot class that hits and run.

Barbarians weren’t weak - they were just not figured out until the 2nd day so everyone was confused on what to play. Many people underestimated Thorns until day 2…but if you just took Flay at Level 1 instead of Frenzy you could easily clap things around you that are hitting you.

THE ONLY FIX I want to see on Barbarian is to add a Movement Speed modifier to Whirlwind. We are to the point now that if a Sorc/Rogue can screen clear 2 screens away that Whirlwind doesn’t need a movement speed penalty to screen clear the screen they are on. The only buff would be to have the opposite and let Whirlwind get a 25-50% movement speed modifier when in use so that they can clear rooms with more ease.

Outside of that and most people don’t know this - but Movement Speed stacking on Barbarian at level 25 was actually INSANE…NO CLASS was keeping up with Barbarians if you used the right boot Aspect + Wrath of the Berserker + War Cry. You could get damn near 200% Movespeed for 10 seconds and clear dungeons insanely fast.

Alk at 170% Movespeed - clips.twitch (add .) tv/AmericanAgitatedLeopardStinkyCheese-rc-61YDQ7kbM_Qam

The only problem Barbarians had was level 1-3 before Flay/Thorns comes online. As soon as Flay can ramp you are FINE. By level 15 you can stack thorns in blue gear and cake walk the content until you can build out a legendary set.

Day 1 Barb complainers who didn’t stick with Barbarian for the three days have no idea how good it actually got.

There was an actually funny joke Asmon made about it.
When he saw how hard it got to kill stuff as a Barbarian, and he saw a Sorceress zipping by killing everything easily.
So he made one~ XD

Lunging Strike seemed to smash things really well, though. I know some people prefer Flay, but Lunging Strike was so fun, I wouldn’t get rid of it.

last time blizzard fixed something in a game from people crying how under whelming it was, they went over board and made it godly. In WoW paladins cried they werent king of dps, so blizzard buffed them now they are kings at tanking healing and dps. Now everyone who doesnt play a paladin is crying to nerf them or buff their classes up to a paladin level… and the cycle begins.

I saw some barbs that were godly in game, its not a play style I like to play but when i saw a skilled player playing one, oh man! They are beasts

What’s really strange about this is that the NDA beta has been in progress for months and I’m pretty sure that the testers provided plenty of feedback. If anything comes out of this it might be where Blizzard just never listened to the NDA feedback to start. However, it seems they will listen to streamers with high-end viewer visibility.

To me, that just doesn’t look very good.
