Barbarian feels like work

Playing Barbarian feels like I have to do 10 seconds of work to earn 5 seconds of fun. Over and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. It’s not about power, I honestly don’t even care if my character is underpowered or overpowered - I just don’t understand the design. Can you imagine if Sorceress had to do 3 basic attacks before they were allowed to cast each spell? That’s barbarian.

I don’t even understand who made this design. Like, why? It’s not fun and it actually takes away build options, it’s like they were telling you how you were supposed to build your character. “You use one of these ones so that you get to do these ones, every 20 seconds you can use a couple of these ones, and then against the big baddies you use one of these ones!”.

Okay, rant over.

I cannot stand how much of the barbs power is tied to having your shouts up. It feels so bad.

Sounds like your complaint is with Fury generation. Yes, slightly difficult in early game for a Barb, but I’d like to start with the class that isn’t designed to hold one button down until the mobs/boss is dead.

More like they have to do 3 basic attacks while their mana regen brings back mana to do more.

Just because some of us enjoy the spin to win playstyle does not mean that you are forced into it.

If we did not have this builder/spender system you could play some weird build where you are constantly rotating between all of your weapons however because so much of our class is gated behind shouts you are limited to your 1 crappy builder that is there to just build up your resource and maybe apply a buff/debuff and your 1 damage skill.

If you don’t like having to build fury, don’t use fury.

They arrive to a battle with full resource. We arrive with zero resource.

I played rogue and actually switched to barb because I wanted something simpler. The amount of freedom with a rogue was world’s different than with barb.

@Trip:

I tried. There is no reasonable way to AOE if you don’t fall in line with the system they created. Or if there is, I was unable to find it. Do you have a suggestion?

Kind of glad I rolled Barb pre season, dont think I will go Barb again. There doesnt really seem to be any fun aspects or Uniques now that Ive played up to world tier 4. Like where is the defining items that Druid or Rogue has. Even if I get Overkill, it seems like a less qol version of Druids pulverize wave.

True, though Leap/Power Leap gets you 40 immediately and Ground Stomp/Tactical Ground Stomp would get you another 25, for 65 immediately at the beginning of the fight while also dealing damage and leaving things stunned.

Seems like a better deal than using a sorcerer’s basic attack.

my build is not using a single shout and he is doing fine @ lvl 55. Did lilith in 1-1.5mins @ lvl 50.

I just RIP my sorcerer, cool downs timers and the mana pool are terrible…stay away from them
