Random dungeon (non-quest) bosses are way overturned for Barbs.
Den Mother in Light’s Watch. Literally couldn’t kill her despite 15+ tries. Had a Sorc friend come help and she died in less than 10 seconds.
Khazra Abomination in Hoarfrost Demise. I’m level 22 and he just takes 90% of my health per swing. 10 tries and the best I did was 40%. Had another Sorc friend come and he soloed it easily. I literally did nothing but run around and he dropped the boss like it was nothing. It’s just ridiculous.
Clearing an entire dungeon just to be stonewalled by the boss is not fun. Barb needs a huge damage buff on bosses, or more tankiness. One or the other.

It’s not just on bosses, Barbarian is very weak compared to rogue and sorcerer

Hopefully gets balanced for barb more damage and or more tank. I got hit as sorc and took about the same amount of damage so something is off. Glad i didnt do beta on my favorite class

Run bleed build with war cry (fortitude 28%). You shouldn’t be losing 90% of your hp instantly, and Den mother was a one shot for me as barb. After I got my ultimate, ult/war cry/a full rend dump is easily first sometimes almost second tier on a bosses normal 4 hp bars. (On world tier 2). Idk if this always drops or not but the neck you get after you beat the boss Lilith a-something during the campaign that drops an immune bubble, almost always lets me take off a whole tier of a bosses health
According to some people in the full beta, this is only true at lower levels.

What bothers me about Barb is having to build fury. The other two can dance around mechanics and then when they get an opportunity to attack they can do so with full energy/mana which then regens again as they dance around more.
Barb not only has less uptime due to melee only, but it has to spend so much of that limited uptime building fury with weak attacks. I don’t feel Barb is super difficult on bosses, it just takes 10x longer to kill them… which isn’t fun.

I just finished this dungeon with ease only because I died 10 times on the stronghold boss, that guy actually does take half hp per hit and I thought it was impossible for non ranged classes to solo. I stitched my build around for lunging strike bleeds, upheaval, rend, iron skin, and leap.
Edit: rupture too for sustainability
Yes, many of the boss fights are a problem with barb, when you have to dive into lots of damaging crap to do damage to a boss.
And don’t get me started on world boss fights.
Guess I’ll play sorc on launch and throw some fireballs from range while my hydras make havoc.

Bleed builds are lame IMO. Should be a Rogue / Necromaner thing. Barbarians should be able to go to to toe with mobs like a brute. Not run around like a nancy while DoTs slowly kill a mob.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with the premise of barb being a “smash and slash” feeling for immersive, bleeds weren’t my first choice, but with rupture you not trying to slowly kill things as you put it. Full bleeds into rupture is fairly instant damage. However for the times where you need to avoid you have something doing dmg to the boss, so your not just afk dodging.
Yeah the world boss fight was hilariously easy for my sorc. Just tossed up hydras and ice blade minions from a far corner. He (it?) didn’t even touch me. All the poor barbs tho…
Well, we don’t talk about that.

On lower levels it was a pain sometimes but now with level 25 I steamroll everything. Attack skills are Frency (LMB) and Double Swing.(RMB). Challenging Shout and Warcry as buffs.
Barbarian definitely need buffs. I was surprised they have the same starting “Life” which is 40 as other classes. They need a higher starting “Life”.
I tried leveling a barbarian today to level 10 today. I was running out of potions, getting CC’ing, etc. I leveled a sorcerer to 25 yesterday easily with little trouble.
Edit: Gear armor values should also be increase.

Barb definitely feels so much weaker to both sorc and rogue. Boss fights punish melee and skills like WW do absolute garbage damage. Why does whirlwind scale so poorly? Why does whirlwind cost so much fury?
To add insult to injury, barb feels very squishy.

At lvl 10 you were runnin out of potions? Sounds like a skill issue tbh

And the amount of damage the hydras do, for a drop and forget skill is insane.

Playing WT2…played Barb Season after Season in D3, Fury Warrior in WoW, basically if I can wield a pair of axes and bury it in a skull that’s what I’m going to do.
First this game is infinity better than D3, to which I refer to as the “M4ss Slaughter simulator”. I appreciate and enjoy challenge, combat feels good, Story is great, for the most part having a good time.
But I have to agree with Barbs on bosses. Without any sustain my dual wield build is DOA. I understand there’s a hit and run bleed build that makes things easier but If I wanted to play a dot class I’d play any other class.
“Berserker” Playstyles basically boil down to killing an enemy before you run out of health(risk/reward) with the need for Speed+Lethality. The way content levels with you combined with the obstacle course Boss mechanics means lethality is out of the picture which would be fine if we had some kind of sustain. Even Fury warriors and Wotlk Frost Dk’s had a little sustain(BloodThirst/DeathStrike). But even that would be OK if we could open our own damage windows as a kind of offensive mitgation but ofc Bosses are immune.
I found this out the hard way as I was cruising through a dungeon got to the the Boss (Spider)and got obliterated. Not even close. blasted through my potions before I could even hit 20%. Gave up tried another Dungeon. Got to the Boss (Den-mother) and got blasted. Tried for 30 min. gave up. Ran into the Vampire castle in the world just to try and start having fun again. Cleared the corruption was surprised at a boss who still kicks my ***. Exited the game before my frustration boiled over.
Honestly some sustain would be needed if your not going to let CC work. I was running a Frenzy/DualSwing With Stomp, Charge, for CC+positioning and WotB and Death Blow to start/maintain Berserking buff. What I wouldn’t do for some lifesteal with that buff. even slotting in a skull into a weapon makes mobbing a lot easier.
Going to try the rend build later after I calm down or maybe go sorc to see the difference.
Tl;dr I agree with the OP.

I got my butt kicked by den mother. I waited till 25 and fleshed out my build better, enchanted my armor, and was so much easier.
I think yall are exaggerating. The most I died to any boss on barb was 2 times. I played 2 different builds and had very little issue. The final boss I died 2 times on before I simply didn’t stand in the aoes. The world boss I did die like 10 times but still completed it. I’m not sure what build yall were running but I went flay/rend/warcry/movement shout for first half of the game then swapped to bash/whirlwind.
Den mother at level 10 was absolute BS… needed to kite her over and over again and only attack when I had my bubble up… lol, casters win again. It was such a bad fight as a Barb.
