Yes, I don’t see how that is still a thing with Blizzard’s current balance policy. Having said that, if Blizzard really plan on nerfing Barbs damage I think they should be very careful doing that… Killing fun builds should never be a solution, however, fixing it is. There is a general survivability issue with higher tier NM dungeons that needs to be looked at. Other classes doing way less damage and are way less mobile and tanky than barb is just not “balanced”.
I agree. I think the reason why activision stopped (openly) nerfing classes is because a looooot of people stopped playing. I believe activision thinks we leave the game because of the nerfs but no, we leave because it is a boring game with contradicting mechanics.
So I would advise you to focus on the core gameplay and buy a horse armor and show it to console players doing sidequests in act 2.
Honestly WW barb has been the only build anyone used since D2, it needs to change and be less the mainstream focus for barb. If anything WW needs to be removed and replaced with something else to spice up barb as a whole.
Barb has not changed one bit since D2 if you were wondering.
In that case, they should buff sorc’s blizzard to the point that it should work like in D2 or D2R with massive damage, massive AoE and massive slow applied. That is like the vanilla build for sorc all along.
Right now sorc is a melee - semi melee character which is stupid because they are squishy af.
Tbh melee sorc is a very popular build in D2, only problem is that it took a monumental effort to get it up to snuff and working.
Idk, you could nerf any class by 1% and then I’d have to spend the next week hearing about/seeing vids pop up; “S TIER TO F TIER?! BLIZZARD IN TROUBLE"
I get the idea of nerfing and I get the idea of buffing everyone else but I dunno what they can realistically do without angering literally everyone
I would take your views in this way:
- Damage is never the real issue (unless it was those unintended billions of dmg) because every Class can and should have their preferred role in endgame, i.e. some builds can have more single/group damage, while others offer more utility and better group resource generation, etc. It’s the diversity of USEFUL builds endgame and we haven’t seen them yet.
- “Killing” fun build is never a good solution. More of that is how they do it (agree to your point). Take barbarian as an example. The nerfs applied on his damage are of no issue but the bugs/nerfs on his damage reduction and/or break CC shout are because inevitably Barbs need to stay up close to deal damage. (One of the variants of) barbarian would be able to deal fairly good amount of damage but stay very tanky, plus giving good utility to the team. We unfortunately are not close to this.
- On higher tiers of NM dungeon, survivability should be an issue, but it should be countered by solo or team’s skill rotation and gear setup (such as chain CC, group CDR skills, etc). It might be harder for solo player, since the current system only has 4 + 2 skills.
- Barb, apart from HOTA build, actually may not output DPS that much compared with some other Classes like rogue - if all of the competition has BIS gear.
Besides, nerfing Classes discreetly is really dishonest. If lots of people are unhappy because of your nerfs, you need to take the situation positively; rather than continuing the act on the background. A sane player will understand the difference between a nerf, a fix and a balance.
Never said to nerf barb, just replace a 23 year staple build from a class that has existed and carried over for 3 whole games.
It wasn’t a reply to you?
the problem is the legendaries. Barbarian and druid have the best legendaries with the highest multipliers. It doesn’t help that Barbarian can wear 4 weapons.
Beat me to it. Being able to equip 4 2H weapons, each of which doubles the Legendary power, is OP.
I mean you have to ask yourself WHY WW is so popular.
Dealing damage while moving has always been one of the main reasons. Almost ever ARPG that has a WW style skill it is generally the most popular melee ability since you don’t have to stop to attack.
Outside of making the skill unusable (which TBH it is until you get geared) it will always remain the go to barb skill.
Blizzard is unable to make all classes similar in damage. They only know how to make one class OP, a few mid-tier, and one utter garbage(necro).
I honestly can’t believe between end game closed betas that blizzard did, open betas, content creators playing before release etc. that the balancing is this bad in the game.
Compare barbarian to sorcerer and anyone can see it’s not even in the same realm, how after this long of development can blizzard not see that? Look how quick they were with slapping nerfs to hydra from a level 20 beta, yet we are over 2 weeks into launch and they are fine with keeping barbarian absolutely busted. It makes no sense.
All i want is a bone golem taunt that holds hate and a buff to resource generation on some necro skills and m6 skeletons to not be so spread out because they do very little damage on their own. But if ww bard is the way to go i might have to play it
I want leap slam avalanche from d3, man was that fun, imagine bunch of barbarians just leaping around a world boss
Barb weapons:
2X 1H
2x 2H
Why change what works? Except, they didn’t carry that philosophy for almost anything else.
Where is the Frozen Orb Sorc? Meteor sorc? Bowazon? Spin to win DH? Inna monk? All of those builds were iconic - and just think, you REMEMBER THEM.
There is nothing about D4 that is special, except for how much it sucks. That is a special level of suck.
No matter who does what can we not snitch plz?
Why do you think I am? I would love to know…
If you don’t know what Barb is capable of doing rn you are just some random ignorant trashtalking for nothing
