I picked up a Legendary Focus item that has an Aspect of Ball Lightning (orbits around you, but its damage is decreased by 18%), but I NEVER see ball lightning orbiting around me. Do I need to have Ball Lightning as an Ability for this Focus to work?
Yes, you do need it on the bar
What do you mean by needing it on the bar? I thought that by equipping the item (weapon) that it would give me that Aspect. It kinda feels like Ball Lightning isn’t working on this weapon.
You have to get a Ball Lightning some way, it does not create a permanent, always on Ball Lightning for you.
You either need to cast it (meaning it is on your action bar) or maybe (not sure here) use Ball Lightning in an Enchantment slot (even if it says it is stationary that might be overridden by the aspect).
yes, you need to cast ball lighning, the passive enchantment do not work with the legendary.
Ah, that’s very interesting! It kinda begs the question then, what’s the point of the Legendary having the Aspect if it doesn’t work passively?
They decided that the passive enchantment is stationary and linked to the ground.
you still get the orbing effect, when you use the unstable current ultimate.
But yeah, it suxx.
Normally Ball Lightning moves and spends limited time near any given foe (they are running to you to attack you mostly). Orbitting you means that anything near you gets hit, repeatedly.
This aspect is a main staple for my damage in my arc lash setup. The stun cast after 50 hits allows you to have near infinite mana in large mobs and the hit count is pretty insane making lucky hits super common.
Have 9/5 on the skill, 100% mastery damage from glyphs, as much attack speed as I can get and spam it between arc lash (since spamming skills without mana doesn’t seem to slow your basic attacks down. I enjoy the playstyle and when I get work paragon points to buff CE to extremes it’ll all go well together.
It doesnt, you must have it on your bar. The enchantment ones are still stationary
You need to put the skill ball lightning on your skill bar to work when you cast it
You have to cast it or trigger it somehow.
The enchantment won’t work (that makes one static, wont orbit you).
You can invoke it via unstable currents or just cast it. You can run the aspect that has 5-10% chance to case lit spells out of currents, but it’s pretty weak according to my testing.
It’s a fun lash aspect.
Charged bolt still feels overall stronger to me but feeling vs. real world dps output don’t often line up…
I wish our Core aspects were Core or Mastery (crits with core increase attack speed 25% for example, hits with basic increase Core dmg by up to 30% also).
If those just said Mastery, ball lightning would be an obvious winner. Sadly mastery is kinda meh for aspect support. Well, the whole class is meh for aspects, isn’t it? Seems ice shards is all blizzard could come up with for release…
How’s charged bolt compare up against the stun mechanic of ball lighting though? I’ve saved a bunch of the attention aspects for charged incase I want to try it but the stunning from the ball makes it feel really good. I will say it starts to fall off as the mob density falls though.
How did you get it that high? Isn’t Adept the only Glyph that adds mastery damage?
@Sarah, got it. The description makes it sound like a passive aspect, that’s always on, ready to trigger should an enemy approach. Kinda makes me wonder what the purpose is of having the aspect, if I have to put Ball Lightning on my skill bar and then trigger/activate it myself.
With the increased radius from level 15 it wasn’t bad. But yeah Adept for 100%
