When you look at the patch notes, they state, “Players are killing the top challenge to the game so we are moving defensive powers into damage.” Now, I could understand if there were a large amount of players that were beating NM 100s or killing echo of lillith, but on xbox, literally 0.1% of the players got the achievement for killing lillith and even less have done level 100 NM dungeons. Nerfing every player because the top 0.1% is the worst possible thing they can do if they want to keep a solid player base.
Now, perhaps they are doing it because we live in a world where people can go to a website and find the best build to do these challenges. And that would be a valid concern, however these builds have been out since launch and even then only 0.1% of the players on xbox have killed echo of lillith.
On a side note, they also state that players feel they have to stack vulnerability, so to combat that they nerfed it by 40% and increased the rolls of all the +dmg modifiers by 25%. On the surface, this looks like a good change to help create build diversity; however basic math shows why vulnerability still going to be stacked.
For example, my vulnerability dropped down to 190% and all my +dmg is at 600%. This means that vulnerability is a 2.9 multiplier and my +dmg is a 7 multipler. If I were to get rid of all my vulnerability and put it into +dmg stats so now I have 0 vuln and 900%, I now have a multiplier of 1 for vuln and 10 for dmg stats.
5 (random number) x 2.9 x 7 = 101
5 x 1 x 10 = 50
So even with these changes, we will still need to get vuln. If they wanted people to stop stacking vuln, all they would have had to do is throw +dmg to bleed/poisoned/chilled/ into the vulnerable bucket. In other words, more dmg to debuffed enemies which would have widened the multiplier with other stats and stop having us depend on vulnerability.
I like many others truly cannot believe this patch. However I have a hunch that during the camp fire chat they will be excited to announce they will revert a change from the patch. They’ll allow us to teleport out of dungeons with a 3 sec cast instead of the new 5 sec cast.
