Back on Diablo 4

In the past week or two I have tried BG3 and Age of Wonders 4.

BG3 is bloody awesome. Best quest game I’ve played.
But - I prefer D4’s more combat ARPG style. Can’t really compare these two anyway. Tools for different tasks. For me, very story based RPGs are ok for one or two playthroughs but not much more after that.

AOW4
Did not really play it. Something weird with the GPU usage. Dropping quality settings to minimum makes the game look bad, but does not do much to drop the GPU usage.
Something is a bit broken here.
With the stories about software bricking GPU’s I am not going to take chances on this.

So – back on D4.

The game got easier. Last night I landed in a couple of fights that were more difficult than I expected. World tier 2.

Then realized my level was in the early 20s, but I was in a Level 35+ zone.

This looks like a result of all the complaining and whining on the forums.

Just after the release, I can remember world tier 2 being overall more of a challenge. I sometimes dropped back to WT1. And this was not while fighting enemies of a significantly higher level.

what is your highest level character?

welcome back, do try season 1 you still have 50 days before it’s end , if you are seasonal player that is.

otherwise, you can wait for S2 :stuck_out_tongue:

I have one character (Druid) in the 50s in season 1. The other classes I am testing are between 20 and 30 now.

My other classes are Sorcerer/Rogue/Necromancer.

Don’t get a lot of time to play unfortunately.

personally i simply make 1 character per season
that way :

  1. season feel faster to complete especially if i aim for lv 100 achievment
  2. most importantly : every season seem fresh to me as it allow me to play a class i never played before (and later on simply a build i never played yet)

i like this current playstyle

I love experimenting with different ways of exterminating the locals.

From my current bunch of characters I think the Necro will be the one I take to the endgame.

sounds exactly like my plan for seasons lol
guess this time i had to make a necro in addition to the originally planned druid, cause the qol hearts seemed kinda good, so i ended up with 2 lvl 100. but as soon as i hit 100% seasons journey, i never logged back in.

still i’m a bit annoyed by the S2 announcement of the game, cause so far it only seems like hotfixes that should have been in the game on release day.
on twitter they confirmed that the bosses will make their way to eternal too, so i kinda count them out of the season mechanic, which will only leave questline and vampy powers for the season -_-

well, we’ll see.
there is these blood power
in S1 it was hearts
in S2 it’ll be blood

we’ll see how or what they are :stuck_out_tongue:
but outside of hearts S1 wasn’t that much of a changer either anyway.

i just need an excuse to make new characters personally, simple as that, and new seasons are a perfect excuse for me to start from scratch with my pal.

At least there is still some hope left, even if its not much lol
and if it turns out to be fairly underwhelming, at least its enough to build up some frustration and a good reason to go back to other games and enjoy the forum end content again until the next season lol
I just hope they arent going for the same screw up mechanic like S1 and think that wrathful invoker at 3% chance from the cache and not available as drop is a good idea…

What the…why so toxic ?
he have the right to post and give his opinion.

what he just said is that he like experimenting…
it’s a good thing also to have opinion from every level and type of playstyle.
and what your narrative of “post when you are 70+” have anything to do with playstyle ?

you talk about “white knight” earlier but good god these kind of post show how much toxic one can get…it’s sad
then are you a toxic knight or something ?

doubt it, they should not want any more backlash.
then again when it was increased to 15, multiple players were saying “now 15% is too easy !”
so there will always be backlash in a way i guess…

I will post at 70+.

I am a database developer and programmer so I think I have a reasonable capacity to work around problems and implement solutions.

If/When I encounter unsurmountable issues preventing me from accomplishing my goals I will indeed be vocal about it.

to be fair, the people that said “tooooo easy”, arent the ones that needed to craft 200 caches to get it to drop… in my case, i had everything finished before i got the invoker from the cache, including lvl 100 and lilith smacked lol
15% might be a bit to much, considering they enabled the drop from elites too at 10% at the same time. 10% flat out from caches would have been fine honestly, but 3% wasnt. Dropping from elites at chance should have been enabled from the get go of the season. Even 5% had been fine, as long as a chance to drop exist, considering its part of the season mechanic and not a long term “chase” item lol
The other bad decision was implementing something in the season journey that is 100% rng reliant and not something that would have just taken time (15 WB kills, 10 cellars, xx tunnels) or partaking in activities, especially with a non existent drop rate at that point in time.

and most likely blizz is already on the road for the next backlash with the upcoming changes to crit damage, vulnerability and overpower. the other question will be on the elemental resistence and if they gut armor in the process XD

i guess time will tell

there is already backlash as soon as it was announced anyway
multiple players want vuln to change since it feel mandatory and doesn’t allow build diversity

other don’t want it to change because they feel “disrespectful to their time played”

oh well we’ll see but yea any kind of change will bring backlash anyway xD

as for your view on the cache i agree , i had to try my luck on tons of caches too before this change

Until 75-80 it’s all fairly nice and fun, the boring part starts to kick in once you have decent equip and most the things you find will just go to the vendor.
After that it’s either enduring the way to 100 or having personal goals that keep you going for that particular char, so fun will vary per person.
There is nothing wrong with just dumping the char at some point and playing another char, as long as you find your personal enjoyment!
My personal feelings on the game are fairly mixed honestly and it’s getting harder not to see and find more and more flaws, but I at least try to stay decently positive lol

If you are playing season, you will most likely have a blast with your necro, cause the QoL the hearts provide are great!

Welcome back OP :)))

It’s a valid complaint, cause it’s a straight up change of a core mechanic of the game.
On the other hand, most that complain do play season and won’t dabble in Eternal anymore, which kinda makes that complaint invalid to some degree, especially with the immediate beginning of the next season as soon as the current one ends. No more downtime in-between.
So the “valid” complaints should only come from the “I only play Eternal”-faction.

The main problem that reduces build variety/diversity is the lack of skills that apply vulnerable and the inconsistency in scaling. If every build had equal access to it, barely anyone would complain, but would be happy for the simple fact: “Hey, I can use my gear for multiple builds now! That’s amazeballs!”

i think you are right on that part too.

but sadly yea there’s not that much skills that gives vulnerable, and even those that do are simply due to the 2nd passive of the skill (which is a choice between this one and another one, making the 2nd option for the 2nd passive useless if the 1st option is vulnerable)

but even on only eternal, D2 and D3 had updates that were nerf and buff too
for example : on D2 : hydra was deemed useless after patch 1.10 that added synergies
(and same for tons of skills that didn’t had much synergies) : while said patch also added multiple buff and some nerfs (bone skills if i remember correctly for example)

and for D3 : well there was quiet a few buff and nerfs there too

every online games has some kind of mechanics changes here and there

I guess that’s true, but most the time it’s just simple number tweaks or maybe a skill changes slightly in functionality, but rarely a “core mechanic” that gets completely revamped. In this particular case of crit damage, vulnerable and overpower a complete change of a sorta working damage system comes (working in the sense of “for better or worse” )
In D3 most the time the balance happened around the sets for example. Tweaking the numbers or sometimes changing the bonus it gave to something else, which in turn would freshen up the play style.

Maybe if vulnerable would shift to the core of a skill, it might be possibility to get the most out of it for every. I mean it doesn’t need to be applied at 100% chance, but somewhere between 20-50% would be sufficient, so people can have an uptime that feels good.

The possibilities are endless, but sadly it feels to me that the people in charge are to short sighted to find solutions that would create an even playing field across the board. The problem is that the devs get most likely rushed to find an immediate solution and numbers tweaking seems like the easiest, which sadly turns into hit or miss and the current track record seems to favor the miss part more
