I think i saw on Wowhead a week ago that azurewrath might be coming to non-barbarian classes that could also use a sword (Necro and rogue). Is that actually true?
It’s listed under Barbarian changes, here. No mentions of removing the class restriction.
Ah gotcha — thanks for the link! Must have misread the other post
No - there might have been other posts/information about it. That’s all I could find from Blizzard, in writing. And really, until S4 is Live, everything is technically subject to change.
It no longer triggers only from core skills was the change. So it’s more viable for other builds.
But that’s noted in the linked patch notes. The OP is wanting to use it on a non-Barbarian, which I can’t find any documentation of.
They mentioned it in the pre-PTR campfire. Would using Azurewrath be better than a tempered legendary? Even with nerfed elemental surge I wouldn’t make that choice.
Yea my point was it was changed to be used for more barb builds and people misunderstood that to mean more classes, I just didn’t word it well.
Depends. Rogue has Cold skills, and giving up one slot for a very nice proc might be, plus the juicy non-physical damage%. Remember the proc was significantly improved.
I wouldn’t use it on Necro though.
Missed on patch notes but SC is available from campfire series

Proposed azurewrath has clearly removed Barbarian only from screenshot. It could be formatting issue that Barbarian Only got cut off due to lack of space. On top of the proposed, it still has (Slashing) which applicable to Barb only.
Do the items still say (Barbarian Only) when viewed with a Barbarian? I can’t remember, and not at the game to check.
Live game is Barbarian Only (as per on the left). I did not bothered to find azurewrath from PTR. These SC are from campfire demonstrations.
At 1:42:00 they said they removed the class restriction so that “any class that can use a sword can use Azurewrath”.
silly that sorc cant use sword, D3 wizards could… looks like we read to many books and forgot how
Silly that they even have weapon restrictions at all IMO.
Yeah I would like to go back to the D3 style of things where everyone can equip everything even if doing so is totally useless for you to do.
