Everyone suggest enlightenment for more dmg, It just adds attack speed and 25%x from the description. It would add your elemental damage together (which would come only from paragon) which is additive. Please, help me understand, I even heard rumours that enlightenment is somehow bugged.
I would expect that it depends on how damage is dealt. You have surge tempers anywhere? Azurewrath/frostburn? Those procs wont be affected by Avalanche; i have also seen it stated (i would need to test to confirm) that it doesnt affect glacial aspect ice spikes; if all your damage comes from skills then compare the two over the course of a few boss fights (try to limit variables). What kills faster?

Np, srry a clarification point i should have made is surge tempers and the like arent counted as âskillsâ, so they dont benifit from skill damage increases specifically (searing heat, icefall, Avalanche, ect, another common trait is that these effects dont lucky hit) but they are increased by generic multipliers like glass cannon or enlightenment.
^the above is probably to general a atatement, always test stuff if unsure. A good example i think is the meteorites rune effect; it gains a burn from the aspect and that can lucky hit, or at least it used too, so theres some grey area in my understanding.
Just test both and see what fits better for your build.
Avalanche is exclusive for frost builds and Enlightenment is useful for any build.
Enlightenment is doing roughly 600-1000% damage in the late endgame, because it first takes all your damage multipliers for non-elemental damage, applies them to your additive damage and then adds all that together to one big buff⌠oh and yeah, there is another 1.25x on top at the end ^^. The important part of the key passive is the last sentence of the description âyour bonus damage with fire, cold and lightning is equal to them combinedâ.
An example:
- If you have 200% non-physical damage, that becomes 200% for fire, cold and lightning.
- Then you have a multiplier from boss powers or paragon that gives you 1.5x elemental damage for example, which makes this 300% fire, cold, lightning.
- Then you trigger Enlightenment and you get 300% + 300% + 300% = 900% and 1.25 x 900% = 1125%
Ye the gameplay loop for enlightement is janky but the damage output sadly isnt even close between those two key passives. Idk if its a bug or intended but enlight is by far the best and class defining talent there is for any build youre trying to make as sorc.
