I line that. This beta gives a good balance testing. I think they change things in Open Beta.
It would be fun to allocate some points every level up, but I can live without it.
I setiously doubt they will have time to change much if anything. They probably dont have finished two other chars fully yet as we didnt have them in beta last weelend.
They DID NOT remove attribute allocation. They just shift them to paragon boards.
I refer while leveling, don#t get me wrong, but I think there is a good reason, & the same reason why Paragon was only unlocked at level 50.
Let player (especially newbie) assign what they want when they are more familar with the game & know what they want.
This avoid the problem of PoE, when players are given assignment of the passive tree before knowing what builds they wanted to play, & fel like headless chicken.
I prefer assigning attrubite at start, then nodes on paragon board, but accuracy matters.
Paragon in D3 was badly thought. It should have had stats and attributes you canât get from anywhere else. Also slamming main stat + stamina was stupid and too WoW-like (and gaining direct HP from gear was taken from Final Fantasy Tactics 1997).
At level 50 you unlock the paragon system where you get that character development.
In D3 again you had the paragon system to get more int, mana capacity, resource generation, and all of the other options you could want.
Having attributes gained by levels the same way as in old games is pretty dated and rarely works in modern gaming. There is a reason so few games bother with that anymore.
With nearly any build with the proper synergy and equipment, you can become OP in the beta.
Exactly, we have the paragon system + more gear types to unlock from the things we know about. There should also be a rune system added at some point when they finish working on it.
Depends on your equipment, the skill, and the synergy between your other stuff. My rogue can 1-2 hit normal mobs with Flurry, something I can spam extremely quickly. If I normal attack to add vulnerability and gain combo points I kill Elites in two seconds. There are plenty of other builds that can do the same thing or do it better.
Barbarian and Sorc are the same, if not stronger with the proper builds. That said, apparently, the paragon system will let us buff skills quite a bit going by what others who experienced it in the closed beta and it will make a huge difference with our builds.
After the open beta, the devs will be making a video about the paragon system apparently so we can see more then.
We only had the chance to reach lvl 25, we are only looking at the basic part of the gameâs player progression. More stuff will probably be added with seasons too.
Not sure if anyone else answered, but only the Necro can use shields⌠Itâs such an odd choice.
Diablo 2 showed how assigning your own attributes failed. If 95% of all your attributes have to go to vitality then the system is pointless.
Rose tinted glasses are not your friend. If you truly believe they are, go back to D2.
I donât say this flippantly either; I played D2 an unhealthy amount back in the day. When there is stat allocation, the game becomes a copy/paste spreadsheet for min/max builds, and the only thing it potentially adds is carpal tunnel from all the extra clicking. You can argue that theyâre treating you like youâre dumb all you want, but thatâs probably just you projecting.
Reality is, the most impactful thing is skill trees, which currently, donât really act like trees. Spend X points, unlock next node. Your attributes will never change your game very much unless you make a solid effort to mess them up.
Or do you want another thing to have to pay to reset and reallocate constantly? Enough people are already crying about skill resets (which cost approx 1 mob kill per point), so do you really wanna add yet another thing to constantly micromanage, tinker with, and inevitably have someone much smarter than you create a template for, so you can have MORE points into either your unoriginal build, or youâre ineffective mess that just handicaps a team in multiplayer?
Oh, and shields? Theyâre just a stat stick with a different graphic slapped on. If you want a defensive star stick, look for something with defensive boosts, put it on your preferred hand, and really put the R word into RPG. Role play your heart out.
There is not a lot of role play with so many restrictions.
That feeling when you find Gull Dagger in the Blood Moore on a new characterâŚ
i wouldnt say bad game design per say but i do miss the feeling of placing my precious points myself like in d2 ![]()
Personally I hated distributing the points in Diablo 2; but only because I couldnât fix it if it wasnât working out how I wanted it to. Didnât mind it so much in Diablo 1 as you would hit caps on stats fairly quickly so it didnât feel so much like you permanently gimped yourself. Iâd be fine with it as long as I can change it if I want to.
Old d2 had this issue certainly. But you have stat reset in d2r and later d2 patches.
