I’ve noticed that some people use mouse macros, such as auto-clicking programs. Even two of the biggest YouTubers for Diablo 4, Rob2628 and wudijo, use these auto-click macros.
According to Blizzard’s In-Game Code of Conduct:
Cheating:
“You are responsible for how you and your account are represented in the game world. Cheating in any fashion will result in immediate action. Using third-party programs to automate any facet of the game, exploiting bugs, or engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating.”
So, the question is: are automated clicks allowed while botting is not? If so, where do you draw the line? Is it okay as long as you stay in front of your keyboard and mouse and play, and it’s not considered “botting”? If you use mouse-related software like Logitech G-Hub or Razer Synapse, is that acceptable, or are even those prohibited? If they are prohibited, then these YouTubers are clearly violating the code.
I would like to hear Blizzard’s official stance on this. If auto-clicking is not allowed, then action should be taken against those who use it, or it should be clarified as allowed so that everyone can freely use it.
Additionally, the game should not require this kind of auto-clicking in the first place.
you will probably never hear from blizz themselves on this, and, ofc they are streamers. they are allowed to use macros. -we- the -not streamers- are not allowed this luxury and it’s unwise in partaking in the use of auto-clickers no matter the QoL they might give.
thanks.
This line of questioning and observation have come up a few times in the past; even as far back as a year ago… Officially you are correct, macros in any form including ‘click’ is against the rules; and was reiterated again in such past threads.
Has anything happened? No. Will something happen? Probably not.
over the years i’ve seen games market keyboards designed for macros but if you were to use those macros, you’d get banned. it always made me lol though.
-KIDS BUY THIS KEYBOARD (so we can ban you if you use it’s features in game)
Actually, they already had action, Bro! They mass produced AFK builds that don’t require pressing any buttons and the monsters and bosses still die and go to hell. That helped people who were using auto-clicking software avoid penalties.
The terms are one thing, they also have to figure out who to deal with…
Well 100% they should ban anyone whos using auto-clicker, not even questionable and there was some precedents in wow with it. Idk why anyone wants to tolerate with it.
They don’t even ban automatically people with obvious offending names or trading bots, do you really think they’ll track your mouse usage and analyze it to differentiate an auto-clicker from someone using its mouse wheel ?
Streamers do have an extra protection since they bring people and money to the game, but regular people have nothing to fear here…
we’re no longer in primary school, the scales are at the door!
Who cares about streamer autoclicks?
they are there to show you content, builds etc. we don’t care about autoclick
if it frustrates you that much use autoclick too, or don’t watch these streamers who use tools you don’t like.
and to be frank, the gameplay of D4 you can just roll your head on the keyboards like an idiot, so using an autoclicker is almost obligatory if you don’t want to have tendonitis…
it’s D4 which is crap not the autoclick
