Lvl 70 rogue t4. Decided to try and make puncture attack speed build its fun to play. With 45% ias neck and 24% from using a core skill its like a machine gun. Shadow imbuement with flurry (vulnerable skills) aspect for around you. explodes the screen. Figured id thow it out there. Its viable but need someone to crunch it down. I dont have the time.
Maybe the issue being is that we don’t (I don’t know) know the max attack speed cap, diminishing returns or break points for attack speed? Different attacks too, for me doing the eye test blade shift seems like the fastest basic attack for rogue. A lot of rogues seem to increase their attack speed quite a bit so they all look pretty fast.
I do think here seems to be some diminishing returns with attack speed but maybe because we all look so fast.
I’m currently cranking IAS on my L80 rogue using Accelerating Aspect (+IAS on core skill crit), Rapid Aspect (+basic skill IAS), and Asheara’s Khanjar (+4-6% IAS/hit, +30% max).
I was running this with Flurry, Toxic Alchemist’s Aspect (toxic explosion vs. poisoned targets with shadow imbued skill), Victimize, and Aspect of Cruel Sustenance (+heal per target hit by Victimize explosion). While it was good at clearing zerg trash mobs, it sputtered a little bit vs. Elites since it did not have any big damage punch that scaled with its targets.
I’ve since gone back to Twisting Blades, but now I use its Daze effect with Knock-down-on-crit to take down higher level bosses. Unfortunately it does not synergize as well with high IAS values, but it still gets the job done.
