Attack power or stats on equiptment

Okay so people might have asked this question plenty of times but here we go.
So I am a Rogue. I have a legendary bow that has 115 extra dexterity. I have just picked up another legendary now that has +415 damage per second before upgrade but does not have any dexterity boost.

I’m wondering if I should use the one with the higher damage or the one that keeps the dexterity higher.

Asking this for all armor/weapons because some armor or weapons have +42 all stats but are lower armor/attack than others that don’t have those.

Do I keep putting the higher armor/weapon damage ones on or do I keep the ones that are less armor/damage but have great stats attached.

First, are you using the bow for actual skills (e.g. Rapid Fire) or are you using melee weapons on skills?

Generally, if you are at same item level grab the Dex. If you are still constantly upgrading gear, then go higher item level (assuming you are actually using this item to attack instead of just being a stat stick in which case item level doesn’t matter).

Finally, I wouldn’t over think any of this. By the time you are Duriel farming you will likely find near perfect gear for everything and what you are using in the interim you will likely not be using in a few days or weeks.

Edit: Maybe easier way to phrase…if you are using bow for ranged attacks go higher +415 damage. If you are using melee weapons, then keep the bow with +Dex since the bow’s extra damage won’t help you.

Yeah I am using rapid fire with some of my items +2 ranks of it. Other then rapid fire I don’t use the bow. That’s good to know.

When it comes to armor though am I going to want to aim for the higher armor over stats? Of course I look at the +100 or whatever armor when I pick something up but then the stats on them are terrible so I don’t know what to choose. I try and mix it up and make some higher with less stats then other ones a bit lower with no stats.

Maybe I am just over thinking this all :joy:

It’s understandable you are thinking about it alot, but really from a longer term perspective you are over thinking it. :grinning: Paragon board is so strong that at the very end you will be able to handle most content with average gear.

But for your build, I would recommend this as a cheat sheet:
Since you use rapid fire, higher item level more important than +Dex.

If both are same i925, then the one with +Dex is better than the one without +Dex.

Assuming you are running Disobedience aspect somewhere already, then Damage Reduction better for the time being than +100 armor. (+19% armor however is a good stat to have on two pieces of gear)

In general for weapons, Damage > Main Stat.

Your weapon damage is what determines the base values for all your skills, which then get multiplied by your main stat and any applicable buffs & affixes.

The exception to this of course, is for Barbarians and Rogues who are using skills that don’t make use of one of their weapon slots.

For example Twisting Blades only uses the dual wield weapons, so the damage stat on your bow or crossbow is completely irrelevant (Item Power however still matters to a degree because it affects the ranges that affixes can roll between)

Similarly, my Frenzy Barbarian only uses twin swords and so I use my 2H slots for the X2 multiplier on Aspects as well as the fact that they roll much higher values on affixes (especially main stat - you can gain over 150 for a single stat and around 85 ish for All Stats which is nutty)

EDIT* Incidentally weapon damage (not DPS) also directly influences minion damage, and this is also a huge peeve of mine for Incinerate on Sorcerer because the Flamescar is a Wand and not a Staff (attack speed does not matter at all for that skill and the higher base damage of a staff would serve far better for stacking Burn)
