Attack Power / Damage Question

I’ve got a unique 2H Axe with 2553 damage per second listed on the weapon. Item power 807. With this axe, my attack power is 3108.

I’ve got a rare 2H Sword with 1994 damage per second listed on the weapon. Item power 764. With this sword, my attack power is 3326.

Despite having a much lower damage per second, the sword gives me far more attack power. I assume this is because the sword has critical damage and strength on it, while the axe has vulnerable damage (which can’t be calculated in the attack power while sitting in town, presumably).

So my question is…is the Attack Power listed on my character sheet the end all, be all of comparing weapon damage output? Should I use the 1994 DPS sword over the 2553 DPS axe?

I’m assuming this might have something to do with your weapon mastery thing, no? Because usually higher DPS weapons are going to outweigh all the other stats on the weapon, especially if it’s by 600

Change your mastery setting or whatever that’s called and see if it changes the attack power

Regardless of what Technique is chosen, it stays the same.

Attack Power is mostly worthless in determining your DPS.

Higher Weapon Damage + the right multipliers matter more than anything else.

This makes sense, but I’m trying to determine if a lower DPS weapon with better modifiers is better than a higher DPS weapon with less modifiers. Is attack power not a good indicator of overall DPS? If so, how do I determine which weapon is betterr?
