Astaroth and Bartuc

Imagine having to go through the Slaughterhouse to get to the Butcher, or having to go through opening 3 big chests in a helltide to get to Varshan or Duriel. Or how about having to do a side quest to get your loot from Andariel? No?? Then why the hell does someone find it enjoyable having to do a full 10 wave compass for Infernal Hodres or 3 damn Nightmare dungeons to get the items you need from Bartuc and Astaroth!???

Can we please move the loot from those two and distribute it across other bosses??
The loot drop quality is absolutely horrifying as it is. Now having to farm those two and getting a full inventory of not even ancestral items is just ridiculous. Make their loot worth the time then!

Its crazy too because they ALREADY did this and backed off of it with Beast in the Ice. They know no one wants bosses to be front loaded with a dungeon, and have for a long time now.

or you could farm boss trophies to cube their items. Alternatively you can also kill belial and pick their boss loot.

I don’t personally care for this at all. Drops should happen on a dungeon floor not a crafting UI. Augmentation of an item through the cube to upgrade/add affixes etc is one thing but getting a drop from feeding mats into the cube like a vending machine is dumb. There are so many possible ways to handle this better. Again it just seems like a mashup of different concepts that comes out inconsistent. To many workarounds for what should be a simple concept of killing a boss and getting a drop and making that experience consistent across all bosses.

No you cant because you need the keys for the new reaper boss to get panda frags

I’m happy at least that got “fixed” this season, which wasn’t possible on season 13. But the drop rates of Astaroth’s and Bartuc’s materials is very scarce. It felt very unfair as a main Sorc player that all the gear I need is locked behind these two while all the other things can be normally farmed. Hordes and Escalation Dungeons farming doesn’t sound appealing at all just to get your build up and running. Everyone should have the same treatment no matter what class we’re playing.

Inconsistent way to do this. The issue isn’t that there are arguably worse alternative methods. The issue is every other ‘lair boss’ is easily traveled to, you can kill them multiple times, and never have to leave the arena they’re in.

Bartuc and Astaroth require far more effort for essentially being Tier 1 (Bartuc) and Tier 2 (Astaroth) lair bosses. Telling some one to just farm Belial or look for trophies doesn’t help when the Belial keys themselves are on the rarer side, and the majority of the time you would get a trophy is from actually killing those 2 bosses.

You’re telling people don’t go to the McDonalds down the street, go to the one five cities to the west.

its an alternative nonetheless.

If it was more me that whole target farming would be gone anyway :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It is an alternative, but it doesn’t change the issue. That’s the criticism here. People aren’t looking for alternatives. They’re looking for a permanent fix to the problem. They know the alternatives, which don’t help the problem.

Your solution would require far more work than just making them all random drops in the world. A lot of systems would have to be reworked from the ground up to even make that viable.

thats not up to you to decide. People regularly dont know things that id consider obvious, and since OP didnt mention them i thought it wouldnt hurt to point them out.

Agreed it helps to point out information, but at the same time it still isn’t a fix to the problem. It’s a much longer way around the problem. In fact I would argue the method you speak of takes far longer than actually doing the content required for those bosses to begin with.

If they are to be considered lair bosses, treat them as such. If not, do as the OP suggested and spread their loot amongst the current lair bosses. It’s one of those issues where the dev team caused the problem of withholding build defining loot behind them.

If only ever got the Astaroth ash drop to craft his loot from as a drop from Astaroth himself. How can we farm those things without killing Astaroth?

im doing tons of helltides, so yea, getting them from the chests there ^^

Weird, I’ve been doing them a lot as well and I only have 4 ashes, which is exactly how often I killed Astaroth. I’m drowning in fear, blood, steel and hearts though.

at which torment can we drop superior bosses trophies ?

typical of Blizz to do this - they know the player bases hates, and at this point I believe they are just trolling us with s14

They’ve had some pretty unusual decisions in the last two seasons. A lot of things they made easier in the past suddenly got reverted. The feeling of horrible RNG is kinda back through many stages of the game. I’d rather work hard for something knowing I’m going to get it at the end, than endlessly grind not knowing if I’m ever getting what I’m searching for. I’m absolutely fine with the grind, I wouldn’t be playing this game if it weren’t so, I’d just like to have something to be happy about at the end of it all.

Not Asteroths mats you aren’t. Not sure why you have to lie and chime in every thread that has any relevant criticism on this forum.

At this point there is no reason why Bartuc and Asteroth are gated so badly other than lazy design which is what this D4 team has been doing for years.

Take the War Plan node in Lair Bosses tree that makes Astaroth’s Amalgam ambush you in NMD when you fight the boss. It will drop Astaroth’s uniques.

With that node, the Amalgam in Horadric Strongroom (requires Test of Might) will also drop Astaroth’s uniques.

Agreed these bosses should only be loaded with the general loot table that every boss can drop versus specific items.
