Aspects Tooled Incorrectly

FYI it’s a lot to read and if you really don’t care to understand his reasoning or the math behind it, skip down.

TLD;R

We have assumed the aspects give a full picture of how the math in D4 works but it’s actually quite wrong. I personally had a hunch but never tested it myself, but also had wrong assumptions confirmed by other necro mains. The big take away from this is that the Devs owe us Necros/Everyone proper tooltips that properly provide accurate theorycrafting.

The highest uptime and damage bonus for Bone Spear aspects for Offensive distribution according to the actual testing by OperatorOtter (14:00 in video):

Combo 2 & 9 wo/Viens
Combo 6 & 9 w/Viens

Combo 9 being the overall best:

  • Edgemaster - Gloves
  • Serration - Weapon
  • Grasping Veins - Amulet
  • Splintering - Ring

This affects infinimist/blood spear builds as well, ignoring the bone specific aspects (Edgemaster/Grasping being the same for those other builds).

Um, yeah, that’s what I run on BS. What do the tooltips have to do with it though?

Splintering damage bonus only applies to the shards, Grasping Veins only applies bonus to enemies hit, Serration multiplies everything.

Seeing Splintering in weapons has always been a wtf for me but it is popular.
