Having recently replaced a weapon which had an aspect I imprinted from another item, I now need to use a different aspect due to not having another item to extract my old one from.
You can’t extract a second time, which makes sense otherwise the system would be a bit redundant. However, what bothers me is that I need to change my entire build simply due to upgrading my weapon. Or, I can go back to 3,753 AP instead of 4,883.
The aspect I changed to is powerful, but unfortunately needed to change my build and actionbars to adapt.
I cannot recall this ever being so strict in any other ARPG I’ve ever played, yet I also appear to be the only one complaining (from what I can see.)
Wasn’t the idea of the Codex of Power to prevent this issue? Why are some powers not in it? Them being the lowest level was the cost of using it, but now I can’t even do that to keep my previous build.
If anyone has insight that I’m simply unware of, I’d appreciate a response. I may not be coming back to the forums, but figured I’d throw this thread out there anyway…
Yeah this is a sore spot for many players. It’s a cheap way to force players to keep grinding to look for additional gear drops with the aspect you need. It’s unfortunate that they didn’t allow us to keep all extracted codex’s as permanent.
The Codex is nice and all but people don’t realize Codex Imprints automatically give you the lowest stat possible. It’s designed to be a stepping stool to the end game. Something to use while you farm up the good stuff.
Yes, that is indeed apart of my post. I don’t really care what ‘people’ don’t realize, because I do realize it and the lowest level version is all I need while I wait for a drop.
that is understandable, but not having all the aspects in the codex is quite another. lowest possible roll is a good trade off. having aspects not in the codex, or locked behind teir walls is quite another.
haha yea i hear ya, i was like level 64 before i got my first pulverize sends out a wave aspect for my werebear…pretty painful. i don’t see why all aspects aren’t in the codex.
There’s a possible fix for this, though. Make extractions also go to the Codex, but at the power they were on the item. That way, their always available, but the possibility of finding a better version of it still exists, allowing one to extract the new one to the Codex, overwriting the weaker one.
I foresee this being a thing in the future of the game, where the codex represents the best % of that aspect you’ve ever extracted and allows you to imprint it at will. That’s how it should be right now, what with the 4 pathetic stash tabs and having 10 character slots and tons of different builds who has the space to store all the aspects you’re going to need including multiple copies of them.
I wouldn’t rule it out, but it would be pretty scummy. I’m fine with cosmetic stores and even battle passes that don’t have power in them. Selling storage in a full price game is a bridge too far though, I think.
poe is f2p so i expect “pay to fix the stuff we intentionally broke” monetization, but d4 doesn’t have that luxury and is already borderline overmonetized for a $70+ buy-in game.
no one is complaining about farming for upgrades, we already do that with the aspects because of lowest roll. its hiding or locking aspects not in the codex that is the problem.
