In the latest official video, at 1:58, she says that dungeons have a chance to drop an aspect. Did I totally misunderstand? I could’ve swore it’s always been represented that it’s just a straight up unlock upon that dungeon’s first completion, not that it’s got a drop rate? Or maybe just unintentional phrasing in the video but no one caught it prior to publishing?
I was surprised hearing that too, I’m not sure if she simply said it wrong or if it was only a guarantee for the beta. I’d hope that we don’t have to grind dungeons so early. Going to have to do it enough at endgame.
Yeah for sure. And I don’t even know that I’m opposed to it since realistically it’s not like I need ALL of them on 1 character (except that I’m a completionist, so yes I do lol).
My main worry with it, is if that happened and no one expected it, then it would just feel bad.
Depends on how low the rate would be I guess. I wouldn’t mind doing a dungeon 2 or 3 times, but I don’t want to have to maybe run a dungeon 30 times for one aspect.
Well the aspects carry over to other characters… soo… if it is this way. which is complete feces, then you can just collect them for whatever character when ya get bored… but seriously… the aspec dungeons shouldnt have to farm…
UNLESS! in those dungeons we’re farming say… ancient or sacred aspecs… then yeah i can see a reason to have those as a rng drop since they are powerful. But regular ones for just plain ol legendary affix… no.
That.

Or it’s possible because the aspects are specific to certain classes that they may only drop for that specific class. You can easily make an OP Necro early in game and collect aspects necessary to make the game easy on your other characters.
Now there are certain aspects that are not class specific and those should be unlocked by any class on completion, but class specific aspects might be better served by completion by that specific class.
As incentive for doing this instead of dropping the lowest level version of the aspect mate it drops as a +1 or +2 depending on difficulty as the aspects you get for completing dungeons are at their base levels. Because the aspects you remove from gear have more power, this would be a nice solution for obtaining better mid level gear. You either farm for the big RNG drop or farm for the guaranteed low-mid tier drops.
More options is always a good thing.
Well they did say drop rates were inflated for the beta… maybe this was part of that.
These are basically the only powers we will get while leveling other than rare lucky drops. Why make it hard to get these?
Time gating er I mean playability.
Not all dungeons have aspects.
That’s why she says “chance,” because when you run a dungeon it will only drop an aspect if that dungeon includes one.
There’s a 100% chance an aspect will drop if the dungeon provides one, and a 0% chance if it doesn’t.
If you don’t enjoy the gameplay why do you play the game? The way you say, “Going to have to do it enough at endgame.”, it sounds as if you don’t enjoy playing the game and you’re being forced to. The whole point of Diablo is killing monsters for loot. Over and over. There are a lot of dungeons in Diablo 4. I’d think that a Diablo fan would find that a plus.
Holy resurrection Tyrael!
And the most likely answer if it was the case that aspects only had a chance to drop. instead of a 100% chance. Who wants to bloody farm a dungeon early on in levels. just to get the aspect to improve their build? When we would have to run them lots at “end game” anyways.
Also not sure if you’ve actually played… most dungeons are bloody boring and lackluster. a bit devoid of mobs as well (this density issue should be fixed in future devs said they are looking into it…) The freaking “Tasks” are annoying as well. Most of us would agree. just give us the demons to slaughter.
That’s kind of an odd way of looking at things. And that’s not how most people would interpret a, “drop chance”. In Diablo 4, if the dungeon you’re running has an aspect tied to it, you WILL receive it upon completion of the dungeon. There is not just a, “chance”. If there is no aspect tied to the dungeon, then obviously you will not receive one. There is no, “chance” about it. You will NOT receive one. That means, “no chance”. The word, “chance”, itself, implies that there is a possibility of different outcomes. There are no possibilities here. If there is an aspect tied to the dungeon, you WILL receive it. If not, then you WILL NOT. There is no variable that precludes a, “chance”, in either case.
There is something wrong with you. You necro’d a 3 month old thread about pre-release conjectures just to whine?
