Copied from separate thread Aspect not upgraded in codex of power
I salvaged a bunch of legendary items, but existing aspects in my codex of power were not upgraded to better quality versions.
I know for sure there were a couple in the salvage which had higher versions of some aspects in my codex. I’d kept these legendary items in my stash since before the recent game update - ie they were ‘legacy’ items - as deciding whether to use the item as-is or extract the aspect in future. However when I salvaged them to harvest the aspects since latest game update, whilst any new aspects in them WERE added to my codex, it seems that any upgrades were NOT applied to any existing aspects in my codex.
Someone else has replied on the other thread, finding the same issue… Feels like a bug maybe with applying codex upgrades from legacy items perhaps.
One example was aspect of boiling blood - I’d found a very high quality (almost max) version of this in game and had the legendary item stored in my stash, but then when I salvaged it, the codex of power aspect has remained at the lower quality version I had previously extracted. So I’ve now lost that higher quality version - i.e. the codex upgrade was not applied.
I’m not sure now whether I should salvage legendary items with higher aspect ratings, or whether this is a bug needing fix and therefore I should hold on to them for now and salvage later after a bug fix.
Is it possible that any ‘legacy’ items salvaged would not be able to upgrade my codex of power? This seems odd since any newly gathered aspects from legacy items were definitely added.
Hope that makes sense!!
Thnx.
(Edit: I posted in PC bug reports, as I am using PC myself, but maybe the issue is cross-platform??)

I’m having the same problem.
I cleared the Iron Hold dungeon to get the basic 1.0 second Fastblood aspect.
After that I gambled and got a 2.0 Fastblood, which was a big upgrade. And after salvaging it, my Codex remains 1.0 second…
I thought something was wrong but couldn’t figure out what, and then I bought a 2.0 and a 2.5 from a trading site today, and noticed that the “Upgrade aspect” text is NOT present on the tooltip despite them clearly having a higher value.
I haven’t salvaged them cuz I’m 99% sure they’ll be wasted.
Anyone else having the same problem?

I have been salvaging perfect rolled aspects and it turns out they are not saving into the codex. RIP I guess
I know it’s a bit basic but throwing it out there that remember that amulets and 2 handers aspects are amplified by 50% and 100% respectively. Make sure when salvaging that the item actually says that it will improve the codex.

Same issue here. I’ve taken to saving my high-level aspect items until this gets resolved. From what I’ve seen at least, it seems to happen when you have one range bonus in your codex (say 10-20%) and then you salvage something from a higher range (say 30-40%). Not sure if that’s definitely the case for all, but that’s what I’ve noticed so far…
[Edit]: Nevermind, I think I just had it happen with an item in the same range…and I’ve been watching to make sure they’re not just 2-handed items
Someone on D4 Discord mentioned that maybe some items were incorrectly configured, such that the game thinks a smaller value is better, therefore not triggering the upgrade when a higher value is being salvaged. (and vice versa)
Do you remember the names of the aspects? We can collect more data points.

I’m seeing multiple people having similar issue on reddit and Discord. Replying to this thread to draw Blizzard’s attention.
I found another one. My codex has 22% grasping veins, and I have a 24% grasping veins in the inventory and it does NOT show the upgrade text in tool tip.
Blizzard plz help.
same here, first i thought i didn’t see the quality of aspect right, but after salvaging bunch of them and not getting better stats from then i realized it is a bug (I can remember only last one ‘Rapid aspect’), BUT I FOUND THAT ALSO WITH TEMPERING RECEPIES !!!
Ug, I thought it was just me. It happened several times the past several days but I thought I was going crazy so I didn’t bother to try and remember.
I FINALLY got an upgrade for the Druid aspect that allows Tornados to seek more enemies, salvaged that single one to make sure and…nothing
Not working for me either, I have wasted a ton of good aspects to the wind thinking they would over right the old one.
This has to stay on top, i also salvaged a perfect aspect and it didnt upgrade the codex.
Same, some are upgrading and some are not.
NOTE: I went to the Cerrigar Blacksmith and that guy Upgraded the same things the other blacksmith did not, I forget which city though.

same, Bold chieftains failed to upgrade when salvaged.
For some reason all my aspects like needleflare and bold chieftains, and inner calm, giant strides, most of my aspects will not upgrade even if i salvage the aspects nothing happens.
It’s been almost month since I started this thread!
I haven’t been able to play over the past couple of weeks, but it’s disappointing to hear it sounds like the issue is still unresolved. Is there a better way to alert Blizzard than this bug report space??
Blizzard people - if any of you are reading this, please could you comment and/or give status & expected fix date?
Thanks,
D.
So at the moment I have a aspect of inner calm that has a 7% increased damage in my codex and is applied to a one handed weapon, I’ve just got a revenant bow of inner calm that says deal 14% increased damage, if I scroll down it doesn’t say anything about upgrading the aspect in the codex when salvaged,i don’t want to lose my aspect I have on my crossbow which is arrow storms at 7k damage as it helps with my rogue build and play style, why do I feel like because the inner calm aspect isn’t on a one handed weapon it won’t upgrade when salvaged, shouldn’t it upgrade the aspect in the codex regardless to what item it’s affixed too? As stated in the tool tip ‘salvage a legendary item with aspect of inner calm of higher roll to upgrade’
This is clearly a problem that theoretically halts progression so that you have not only a better playthrough but can cause more damage when playing.
