Aspect bug fixed at 1.0.4 ruined my play

Dear Blizzard,

Recently at 1.0.4 you fixed:

  • Fixed an issue where Aspects that deal flat damage imprinted through the Codex of Power scaled with player level instead of item power.

You never informed us that this was a bug in the first place. I have vendored countless flat damage/flat barrier legendaries with high rolls because the Codex of power was giving me higher value. And I thought, as many players also thought that this was intended game design.
Now all my helm items absorb 3.5K with Aspect of the Protectr insted 9K. And same time I cannot put a higher aspect on them because I vendored my 5.5K+ rolls!!!
Same thing with Aspect of Arrows Storm, Aspect of Opportunist and many more!!

This is ridiculous. Because now we have to grind again for items that we already vendored.
Generally transforming crap items into good ones with “game fixes” is something I believe is unacceptable especially in a game with such limited inventory space.

Please refund all flat value legendaries that I have vendored or salvaged within the last 30 days. Its the least you can do.

You are playing a paid beta, and will be for the next 6+ months. Get used to this.

No man I will not. Most probably I will just walk away.

Its also strange that it says “aspects that deal flat damage” but the fix also applies to barriers/fortify…

Its funny/sad that they didn’t test a damn thing in this game even after 10+ years of development. The most poignant question asked during yesterday’s livesteam was when asked about making game chaning nerfs or buffs during the middle of the season and Blizzards answer was “buh buh buh buh”.

The D4 dev team most urgent need isn’t balancing, item mechanics or anything game related the priority should be getting a working PTR (public test realm) enabled since they have continuously displayed the inability to test their product in house.

I always wondered why Aspect of the Protector’s barrier was higher than the minimum value when applying from the codex.

Yeah, this was a spit in our faces. Had an amulet on my sorc that I imprinted on my 100 barb that gave me somewhat meaningful defenses. Just like you I’ve been salvaging all high or perfectly rolled barrier on hitting elites because I had a better one, yet then came Blizzard and had to ruin any sliver of remaining fun in this game.

Are the patchnotes for 1.0.4 live? If so, where?

It was a stealth nerf it wasn’t in patch notes.

They do not even care to write a correct sentence in the change list. They can not understand it is important to players. They cannot understand how frustrated we all are managing our limited inventory slots and same time keep all these aspects for future imprints.
Everything concludes that they did not played the game at all before launch. Because every single person that levels a character from 1 to 100 ends up with 9 mule chars full of aspects and gems.

At some point you have to make critical decisions like: Either I vendor 10K gems or 50 aspects either I stop playing because inventory is full at every character. In this case you try to vendor the least important items. Like for example Aspect of Protector. And then Blizzard comes and spits you in the face with “game fixes”.

More stupidity on blizzards part. Didnt even think that was a bug just a mechanic so we built around it, wtf.

Yup, this is terrible. The aspect now rolls for only 946 barrier when hitting an elite, whereas before it was 4k and some. Plus the most recent one I imprinted on my pants lowered from the 4900 is now showing only 2600. A secret nerf like this is unacceptable but there’s nothing we can do about it aside from complaining. Like you, I really REALLY wish I had not vendored my aspects from before that rolled between 3500 and 4k because now they’re better. Totally not cool.
Also doesn’t help that the UBER Uniques are actually NOT acquirable. No one gets them, even with 100s of hours of grinding. So there’s nothing to really work for now. I’m the only one of my group that still plays and this might be the straw that makes my whiny bum stop too.

What seems to be a side effect of this is that the values in the codex are wildly misrepresented in the codex. For example: Death Wish would state that it increases thorns by 625 in the codex but once applied to a 2H weapon it states it’s 3275 thorns or somewhere close to that.

It’s going to make it difficult to assess whether something is an upgrade or not. Though it is somewhat helped by the fact that codex powers are always the minimum roll.

I don’t think they had allocated resources to start developing D4 10 years ago, they were still expanding D3 seasonal content after Reaper of Souls went live in 2014.

Blizzcon 2019 was basically the first unveiling of plans for D4. 4-5 years is more accurate.

The roots of Diablo IV lie in late 2013 or early 2014, where [Diablo III: The King in the North] was cancelled, with the instruction that [Team 3] move onto Diablo IV and Diablo Immortal, regardless of what form the game might take. Team 3 was split up, with some of its members transferring to different projects within Blizzard. Those who remained were assigned to provide patch support for [Diablo III] while simultaneously developing Diablo IV . Development of the game began in 2014. The initial project was referred to internally as [Hades]. However, Hades was cancelled in 2016, and Team 3 began work on Project Fenris.

Be honest. We all know it was bugged. Next people are gonna cry about rogue’s bugged poison pool. Never change lol.

Ngl I had fun with insane roll arrow storm.

Buffs and nerfs are gonna happen. Some players will adapt. And the whining crying people will whine and cry.

Why they refuse to update the sticky posts on their own forums is baffling.

Yup. I lost 6k damage on my Overcharged aspect. I made a post about it, but it got lost in all the Shako stuff unsurprisingly. I’m less upset over someone getting some item a couple weeks before the season than I am this ‘fix’ that gutted items.

It’d be one thing if the values were comparable or close but they’re not. My aspect went from 9k+ to 3k on a 819+25 item. It’s not like I even put this on some kind of low level item or something, nope, this was on one of the higher level items available in the game right now and it’s like a 6k difference. I do not understand how this is okay.

This was honestly the last straw for me. This is actually a post worth discussing. Everyone talking about why they shouldn’t take away uber unique drops because it was Blizzards fault while ignoring the fact Blizz just cleaned our clocks on aspects yesterday because of another “bug”. Just one nerf too many for me.

It is in the patch notes though?
