I liked the more colorfull Diablos better. But its ok, many fans wanted it this way.

I find the art/visuals of d2r much more appealing than d4s. Many objects in d4 are sculpted to the point where they look like plastic, at least to me. The style of d2r is much more clear and much more fitting to a “dark” lore compared to d4s imo.
It’s just proof that no matter what was in D4 people were going to complain. We just got done with 10 years of people complaining about the bright color scheme in D3, even after it was darkened with RoS, and now the forums are doing a 180 and complaining D4 isn’t bright enough. It’s hilarious.
I think the inverse, it’s still too cartoonish, especially ghosts, I think ghosts don’t fit the style. Looks like D3 ghosts. They should have been less colored and more “ghostly”.
I would have loved the d2 spectre style ghosts, or even more d2 monster styles in general.
Yeah, art is definitely subjective, because I’m glad the ghosts don’t make me strain to see them the way I do with some of the ground effects. I have pros and cons for both styles of art, liking/disliking areas for different reasons. My biggest complaint about D4 art is that the camera is so far back I can’t see the details like I can in D3.
My issue is with the battle graphics.
If i need to dodge something, it would be nice to see is. As a necro with no CE, it’s really hard to see the fear runes, or where they end. Most effects are impossible to see.
At least the resistance mobs have a purple glow. We need more glow.
OR at least an option to highlight treats.

Heaven forbid that we ask for the ability to see effects on the ground when we’re fighting.
Another exemple. In old Diablos, if an enemy had thorns, there was a very visible effect for it.
In D4, there is currently a bunch of effects that you can’t see unless you read it. Like Cold enchanted. You learn about it once frozen and stun-locked.
I don’t know how i’m suppose to read the 3 effects of an entire group of elites that just falls from the ceiling on my face. Add wind walls, and some stuff like the vampire attack red glow is just not visible.
Because the devs thought that desaturating everything was equivalent to making things darker. You can see the colors in D2R’s tombs and caves pop and yet the screen could be pitch dark beyond your light radius. In D4 you see everything, but it’s all desaturated so it looks almost grayscale if you step away for a while and try to imagine the environment.
yep, HoMM5 Spectre colour tint would fit kinda better
I disagree, the only thing this game currently has going for it is the art style imho.
They colossally messed up with this zoom level though and not being able to zoom out more or adjust it at all other than zooming even closer which is 1000% pointless.
