Arpg rivalry and toxicity

Rod Fergusson has a history of being a closer to rush out unfinished products. He did this with Mafia 3. He did this with Gears of War. Now he has done this with Diablo 4. In all cases they are well loved franchises that were rushed out the gate, lacked quality, and disappointed the fans of the franchises.

Maybe we can just call all these mediocre games that come out Rod-like.

They are just charms that you add to the belt slot. They work on their own.

He doesn’t realize that he is actually the toxic one on these forums.

Please do. You are toxic.

Just to be helpful, goto your history tab and delete the video you watched. That will at least partially stop that

Like I said… toxic.

  1. You are actually right on this one. But that’s one of the things that “define” the game and how they decided to go to have build diversity and creativity from the moment you create your char. This doesn’t happen in D4 so it can be easily considered good or bad for either game and can’t be used as a stand alone “problem”.
  2. Not true… Actually there are quite a lot of videos and reports of non-sponsored streamers on youtube. It’s pretty unanimous that the game is revolutionary to the ARPG genre and maybe a masterpiece as a game in general (in the sense of competing for awards). Will it be a grade 10? We’ll have to wait and see. But just the core gameplay and mechanics is already revolutionary to the ARPG without a doubt.

A bunch of youtubers are singing its praises? What else is new? You can say that for almost every new game that comes to the market. New World was the next big MMO until it launched and fell flat on its face. Last Epoch was the new revolutionary ARPG that was going to kill D4. Didnt happen. Now yutubers are singing the praise of POE2. They do this every time a new game is on the horizon because its a click generator. They rarely mention negatives until after launch.

POE2 will fill a nice niche for that small core group of D2 fans who think that game should be the template for every arpg that is released. For the casual fan that just wants to relax and enjoy a game without too much time commitment, it will be a hard pass.

Like I said, Im reserving judgement until I play it. Until then its just typical new game hype. If I end up liking it great. I have another game to play when Im taking a great from D4. If not, no big deal. And I could care less if it does or does not win awards.

Like all the hype D4 had and they completely dropped the ball? That kinda hype? POE2 is also going to be free-to-play, so you aren’t lighting your money on fire if you don’t like the game… unlike this AAA garbage we all purchased because most of us loved D2 and it had “vibes” that made us think of it.

POE is niche, POE2 how would you know if it is? We gotta play it first, scared of the tree? Lol, if the tree freaks you out… stick with D4, it’s braindead simple and you don’t really have to think much.

There is even psychology term for this, but can´t remenber it.

The fact that people who had some opinion will keep that opinion even after confronting them with lots of fact which are refuting their opinion simply bcs they would have to admit they were wrong. Even if that facts may not be known at point where they made their opinion, they are just closing their eye and refuse to change their mind.

For some wierd reasson (ego probably) it is very hard to admit own mistakes for someones.

Yep. You guys hyped yourselves up into thinking D4 was going to be something it was not and when it didn’t happen you’re still complaining about it a year and half later.

Early access for POE2 is not free. You’re paying at least $30 dollars. Think anyone who loves and knows about POE are waiting until next year for full launch of the sequal? I doubt it.

That’s your fault. You fell for the hype and falsely believed the game was going to be another D2. I most certainly did NOT buy this game because I thought it would be another D2. I wouldn’t have purchased it if that was the case. I’ve played that game already. Give me something new.

Did I say the tree freaks me out? Did I not say that I’ll be playing it? Why so sensitive? Not sure that being hostile towards people who say they are trying your game is the best strategy for bringing people aboard. Or are the only people allowed in game those that fall for hype and never question anything? You’re starting to remind me of some posters here who attack anyone that questions D4. You’re exactly what the OP was talking about.

and I’ve every right to… I paid for the game and if they wanna give me my $100 back, I’ll gladly leave and never return.

Ok? I’m talking about the game itself… you won’t have to pay for it.

It’s also beta, not early access… big difference and I ask you either way, so? D4 sure felt like a paid beta test and I’m sure it still does.

I fell for the hype of an objectively bad game, yep. Tends to happen sometimes, can’t win em all… should have listened to the track record, Diablo franchise? Last good game was D2… 24 years ago.

Sensitive? You being low IQ doesn’t make someone sensitive. Also the comment about the trees is more of a general statement because… well, I know the majority of the diablo fanboys are… not too bright.

I’m not convinced the problem written about in the op exists.

They do actually…Most of the people are just let down by the state of the quality of the games Blizzard has relased in the last decades, some of them are haters and a big chunk of the supporters are copium deranged shills. Either way, this 3 parties will always clash one way or the other, and sooner or later the people who are let down are driven away leading to projects being canceled or thrown into a p2w state…After that the shills declare a win there and proceed to cry over the expensive state of the game their are playing.

It’s a never ending circle :D…And it’s only on Blizzard’s side from what I see…Blizzard can’t have a week of relief without creating another scandal.

A college graduate with high paying job is low IQ. Now I’ve heard it all.

Yeah, guys like Elon Musk are really not all that bright. I love it when posters on the internet who claim to have high IQ make one stupid remark after another. No wonder you fall for hype so easily.

I love that people like you truly believe having a college degree and a “high-paying job” (X for doubt) make someone intelligent

I’m sorry basic reading comprehension is difficult… I stated “THE MAJORITY” of D4 fanboys… try again, don’t fail this time.

P.S. Thanks for proving my IQ comment right.

You are right we thought it will be good and it just diablo-like :man_facepalming:

No you’re right. Having a college degree and a high paying job doesn’t mean anything. You can totally achieve that with low IQ

This has been fun, but its clear you are a POE2 fanatic who has fallen for the hype and will attack anyone, even people who say they will play the game, if they don’t sing its praises. And you want to claim others are low IQ.

Good day to you.

Acceptance, good job and still X for doubt.

Fanatic? No, just like good games.

You clearly don’t. I call people low IQ when they prove themselves to be, I’m sorry that the truth hurts.

Good day bud.

I think a lot of ARPG players have / will sink a lot of time into both.

I am a Diablo fan, D4 is my natural home, but I’ve grown bored and frustrated with D4 post expansion. They pretty much broke a lot of stuff that was fine before. I’ve stopped playing and don’t feel like logging in. It all seems pointless.

I’m playing PoE properly for the first time now and it’s really good. It’s scratching the itch. PoE2 looks on paper at least to be a truly next gen ARPG.

So I will play PoE and hope that Diablo finds its mojo again. I worry that D4 will just kinda fade away and we will never get the Prime Evils or finish the story. Blizzard may just put a pin in it.

I will tell you what will happen. D4 will get one more expansion. Sales will be horrible, I mean even worse than VoH.

They will realize it is over for D4 and stop future support and in some time they will announce D5 with lots of hype.

D5 will be like OW2.

It will be reskined D4, realisticaly it will be like DLC for D4 (they will used that scrapped content) and it will be… diablo-like

Blizzard is just done (from gamer perspective, it will be still fine for them for a while). Blizzard is new Ubisoft.

Would love to be wrong.

For the life of me I don’t understand why they made a redesign for the expansion launch when the changes for S4 and S5 was so well received. That had to have come from higher up.

POE2 does look good. The graphics look incredible. It still looks like a dark world but there is nice color and contrast throughout. The gameplay is what I’m looking forward to as that was the biggest turnoff for me with POE1. If they nailed that part down then I’ll be happy. I know sorc players will be flocking to that game because for whatever reason D4 can’t get that part right. Same for druid. I REALLY wish that class was available for EA.

So I will play PoE and hope that Diablo finds its mojo again. I worry that D4 will just kinda fade away and we will never get the Prime Evils or finish the story. Blizzard may just put a pin in it.

I think we get one more expansion and that’s it. Mephisto and Diablo we get to fight. I thought each expansion would have us fighting one of the prime evils but sadly we didn’t get that with VOH. I really get the feeling that was what was suppose to happen. VOH storyline feels like it was stopped right in the middle of what was planned.

I totally thought we were getting Mephisto in VoH. The final cinematic was badass and then… THE END…!

Yep. HUGE letdown. We didn’t even get a new boss with that expansion. I get that making a new zone and new class takes a lot of time and resources, but couldn’t they have finished that act with at least ONE new boss? Or was all the cool new bosses put in the Dark Citadel which I will never step foot into because I don’t play ARPGs to be grouped with others?
