Army of the Dead not considered Corpse Skill?

Feels like a no-brainer… The skill is kind of useless besides generating a few corpses, ressurecting dead skeletons (never dies), and probably proccing lucky hit.

Army of the Dead does a lot, its damage is not its attraction.

  • Army of the dead enables the second most powerful aspect for minions in the game.
  • its an auto full fortify machine with Necrotic Carapace
  • Its a lucky hit monster with the highest lucky hit coefficiency in the Necro arsenal.
  • Its a corpse spawning monster that synergizes very well with Necrotic Carapace, Skeletal Priest, Corpse explosion and Corpse Tendrils.
  • Minions do die in some rare cases, Uber Lilith phase 2 and Tormented Andariel.

Could it be a Corpse skill? well sure, but given that all skills can only be two “types” of skill it can’t. Example Tendrils is Corpse+Corruption, Bone Prison is Bone+Macabre. Army of the dead is an Ultimate, so it needs that tag, and its more of a summoning skill given that it summons then a corpse skill given that it does not use corpses to function, but rather generates them.

Eh, summoning fits better in my opinion.

Also, I don’t know why AoTD gets so much hate. For the reasons mentioned by Ralph above. Instant army restore, a ton of pew pew with Unyielding, a corpse spawning machine, bit of damage, immortal army while it’s up (they still can die), fort spam, lucky hit… I dunno, it seems like it’s fine.

Sure, maybe you can’t into big packs of mobs and watch the spinny boney circle go round and round while it dunks barrier and lets you facetank all the fire. With your trusty crit chance boost and DR in the mix. The game does have a dodge button though.

AotD is a summoning skill. It doesn’t require corpses, why would it be a corpse skill?
