From what I have heard they do not want people respecing their characters often with large costs to change builds and I feel like that is a mistake that kills the joy of experimenting and trying new builds. It is very unlikely that one build with be best for PVP and PVE for a class and using a second character slot for it seems excessive. Needs to be ways to quickly change build/skill trees similarly to the armory in D3. Being able to optimize your builds for speeds, key farming, bounties, pushing, trash killing and boss killing was a fun part of D3 for me and created a large diversity of builds. For D4 you would probably want a build for Dungeons, travelling the overworld for events, killing world bosses, PVP and speed farming dungeons. While with the currently known skill trees/legendaries these builds would not have as much difference as their D3 counterparts I still think it would be better to keep the options open for players to change builds.
Well, your way kills the joy of leveling up new alts. They had to pick a direction and they picked one. Your side is not happy, my side is happy. That is how life goes.
Why would you want to level up the same class twice? Youâre going to have to level characters again for seasonal play anyway so I think needing to level multiple for different specs would be overdoing it.
Makes the delete character key useful?
Iâve never understood leveling alts of the same class. I generally level all classes when I play, but never the same class twice in a short period of time.
Well Iâll give an example. I might want a CD reduction ice blade sorc for running quick âgrab the box and bring it to the pedestalâ runs. But then I might prefer and blizzard sorc for pvp.
But itâs not just that. Without the current respec model, developing a character is pointless. Itâs just about levels then. And cookie cutter metas for doing anything with a group. Itâs so stale.
youâre going to having cookie cutter metas anyway. That isnât a respec issue. thats just how these games work. End-game players are going to want top tier builds and with the shared stash (I think) will use these characters to grind the gear for the other builds. Forcing multiple of the same character does nothing but lower self experimentation.
Well, to a point yes. But if everyone knows you can just swap to whatever specific meta spec has the holy place for whatever activity youâre doing, it will be mandatory. But if respecing on the fly isnât viable, this obviously wonât be as stringent.
Will still be as stringent and you are now expected to have leveled multiple character for the activities. Donât know what youâre basing your statement on.
The respeccing cost isnât a barrier it just means an hour or 2 work thatâs all. If thatâs an issue, then well bad luck in this case.
Because obviously, the D4 developers want to put you into their âartificial paddingâ so it will appear to everyone that players stick to D4 longer than other games. Not because you like it but because you are forced to do so if you want to be efficient.
It is kinda comical that the D4 team wants players to create alts but somehow only give 10 character slots knowing that there are 5 classes. If each class has staple 3 builds, it would require you to make at least 15 characters to taste all those builds.
I just feel all it actually encourages is people using cookie cutter builds that they know will work rather than actually trying anything themselves.
Maybe but its looking like loot might be rare enough to discourage this. Have to wait and see how it pans out.
One thing I gathered from reading the first few responses is that you all arenât comprehending what the OP is saying.
Theyâre saying that respec costs will become so astronomical, that you have to make a new character just to try a new build. Which is absolutely ridiculous on Blizzards part.
Edit to add that this is only given what we know from the beta. Hell, gold might not be worth anything at the end game, just like in D3, so maybe it might actually not be a problem.
I did see the âleakedâ end game video, and dude had something like 21 million gold.
Sorry but they have already clarified that this is not the case, blizzard interview Q&A with one of the youtubers, so I get what the OP is saying but its just not the case!
Plus the leaked thingâŚagreed 1000% I played closed and in no way did gold hinder what I wanted to do. Unless they nerf it. /shrugs But after the Q&A It doesnât look like they are.
Do you have a link to said interview?
I will say that interview is somewhat ambiguous and self contradicting. On the one hand, they said it will be cost prohibitive to respec every day. Then they said that it will make more sense to roll an alt at a certain point.
So which is it? Leveling an alt is a bit of a time commitment. More than a day (maybe not?) Why would it make more sense to level an alt than to just farm gold for a day or two? Something didnât add up there.
No matter how much a full respec costs, millions of gold, cash-shop or drop/quest items at end game, Armory would be a nice QoL feature and I donât believe just because D4 is a new entry of the genre we should lost tested and well received QoL feature until we get another expansion.
On the respec cost though, high(30 mins-1 hour worth of farming gold) to super high(5-10 hours) cost could already be problematic as it will clearly punish b2p/causal players more than P2W and steamers when the game have gold/gear trading.
Making it also progress by each time you respec to a point that you would be âbetter of leveling another character" is insane when: A) we have to do the story quest and many map unlocks all over again unlike D3âs adventure mode. B) a brand new ARPG which player and blizzard fans waited 11 years with only 10 character slot and 5 classes In Casual Mode.
We do have a HC mode, I often play HC, maybe we can keep a reasonable full respec cost cap/CD for Casual mode, and move the progressing cost system to HC for when people want to have a more ârewardingâ âsense of achievementâ season.
Iâm not a hater, nor causal player. Iâm a long time blizzard game player and I have not a small amount of blizzard balance sitting there for years looking forward to a new 3A release. I want this game to be good, I want it to have a huge player base.
Hope blizzard could come to their sense.
Hmm let me see if I can chase it up, it was one of Rhykkers or Quinns vids I need to have a look.
