Armor cap Question

I know it was probably told many times, so appologize, but I can´t confirm it so I rather ask.

I´ve heard many times in S4 armor is cap around 9500. That means even against like mobs 180 lvl. You need just so little armor?
There is like no purpose of having armor highter? It seems pretty low.

Yep, 9320 to be exact. They didnt want the armor cap to be something hard to attain. Get it to 9320 and focus on other defense stats (resists, damage reducrion etc.)

Yep, what Somaa said.

This is also why a lot of the internet-factory builds have been suggesting dodge affixes/tempers. Since you can only stack so much armor, may as well add a different defensive layer.

-Figured this out when I realized I was using juggernaut aspect and armor affixes and had 17k armor. OOPS! Old habits die hard!

I am really not sure how to build my def stats for endgame.

HP is obvious, DR is very limited and dodge is completely useless.

I am playing on HC so even 99% dodge would do nothing, when there are IK mechanics.

Not sure If I am liking new armor cap.

I have a juggernaut that gives me 9400+ :joy: (forgot the actual number but it was like 9600 something or 9900 something) Seems like a wasted aspect almost, unless you can find no other way to get over that number.

-Get armor to the 9ksomething cap OR around 7.5k and use disobedience aspect to make up for the rest.

-Use dodge even though you seem to not like it. Understandable, it used to be a meme in the game. Not as much, now.

-Use straight up damage reduction wherever you can source it from. Affixes, paragon, tempers, ANYWHERE.

-Browse the passives in your skill tree. There are usually damage reduction nuggets to be found in those branches.

Yeah, that aspect was what I needed to kick to the curb. Having that one PLUS disobedience was a dumb oversight on my part.

I suppose Juggernaut could still be useful if you rely on it while avoiding armor affixes and tempers and other armor aspects.

Yeah and saved it for this reason.
But for me it is not as easy to just swap all my other gear to non-armor affixes and tempering because my build is very Spirit Hungry so I need that +4 Spirit per second on 3 pieces of gear (even on 2 pieces it seems to be slightly too slow).

Yep I am familiar with basic =) Considering DR is removed, at least some unques with this affixes can be usefull + masterwork on them…

I fail to see how dodge can be usefull. You just can´t rely on it.

I’m sorry but I am being dense! I also haven’t played necro this season. What does armor level have to do with spirit resource??

Correct. You cannot RELY on dodge. BUT you used to have to take up multiple affixes to boost armor. Now that you can’t keep stacking armor because of the cap, you use those “formerly armor” affixes and (now, tempers) to add dodge because: what else are you going to do with defensive pieces of gear once your resistances are also capped?

Druid.
Spirit does not naturally regenerate for Druid. So this affix gives you 4 spirit per second.
On the helm, chest and boots, you can get up to 12 per second.
Then add 2 tempers/affixes for resource regen to your rings…and after a few levels of Master working it can get pretty sweet and you can play without a basic even.
Which is what I am doing I run Lightning Storm and Tornado…both resource hungry.
But this affix is somewhat harder to find or re-roll from my experience.
And my current setup they share the same gear as the Armor affixes so I would need to find new gear with the Spirit affix, before I can start replacing the armor affixes to something else and run juggernaut. Most of the gear i have on has a set rerolled affix already. Some may even have no room for tempering again.

I guess HP at every piece…

AHhhh, I get it now. Thanks for explaining.

I’ve only been masterworking one item because I don’t have much yet that I truly feel I want to keep forever and I know I should start doing more pieces (need to for seasonal goal anyway) but then I’m scared I’ll end up in your situation so I have been a bit overly pansy about it.

Your build sounds fun!

Actually since I posted that I was able to rework all of that, and am now running no armor on affixes or tempers and using Juggernaut. Overall it freed up a few affix/temper slots so…can be a bit more defensive as it was 3 defensive items. :stuck_out_tongue:

As for master working so much of my stuff is lvl 1 and 2 :stuck_out_tongue:
Only the rings and necklace are lvl 3+ As they have resource regen on it.
I am not worried about my damage as much as Resource…but for now it feels good.

A lvl 20 pit gives you like 30 of the mats and fairly easy to do, and that is like 2 levels of Masterworking for one piece. So don’t worry about wasting them…you can go back make it up quickly. I mean I am in no rush, and I think I will push higher once my gear is where I feel like I am comfortable as far as MW lvls. If lvl 30 feels easy I will start doing those to backfill as they will give more.

9230 actually. Not a huge difference mind you, but you just mixed up the 2 and the 3 placing.
