Hello,
I am currently deciding what class I want to play in Season 1. I have played Druid the most so far (around 11 days played) - Werewolf Tornado and Pulverize.
For season 1, if I decide to go Druid again, I would like to try out non-shapeshift endgame builds or companion builds but I am not sure if those can even be strong as the shapeshift variants. I would like to push the highest Nightmare dungeons and Pinnacle bosses with it. I am just not fun running around as a werewolf casting lightning storm spells - seems pretty lame (Tornados are not much better).
Or will I always be forced to go Tempest Roar helmet if I drop one?
I know there is going to be a huge patch tomorrow but I am asking for the current state of the game.
Thanks!
You can make a human version of Nature’s Fury bulwark but it’s kinda boring tbh
EZ MODE IS NOT THIS CLASS.
in short if you grind the glyphs, tune your pargon board. Then gather the right aspects and gear any number of builds become usable with out relying on a single piece of gear. You can make zoo druids. You can make lighting rods. You can make blouder slinging carebears if you want.
Its more about the effort and tunning done to find out what works for you.
Sure, I can make a lot of builds but will they be as strong as shapeshift builds/variants?
I hit Level 95 this morning. I run a Strict Human Form Lightning Druid, only shape shifting I do is Trample when I need to move from a tight spot. I use Earth Spike, Lightning Storm-Catalysm. It is fun. Perfect, Meta Likely not, but I melt everyone not named the Butcher. If I want to push further, I know, I must convert over using the Uniques that have dropped: I do not use any unique: I have almost all of them. I enjoy Human Form. I have four boards I use: I also have all my Glyphs higher than Level 17. See, I am not sure what to run Season 1- Leaning Druid again…

Well, that is nice but can we run 80+ Nightmare dungeons or kill Echo of Lilith with a non-shapeshift druid?
I can do that now on my 100 Werewolf tornado druid but for S1 I would like to be as powerful as I am now but without being forced to play as a werewolf or bear.
The answer is simply no.
You can make builds that work as human form. You can make much, much better builds as shapeshifter. The only build that really exists in any functional form as a caster is lightning storm, and it’s “ok”, but not close to tempest roar builds or even pulverize.

I tried when boring of farming Tempest Roar and got it, guess human form can get any unique (joke). I stack the spirt reduction and get Starlight (which is buff) and Umbral. Feel enough to not running out of spirit although damage is just lacking because you just in human form, but still enough fun.
I wonder if a Shako would close the gap. The extra skill points and defense plus stats etc. Just wondering if more likely to see that helm in seasons. I played yesterday and got a bunch of uniques I hadn’t gotten previously, including gibbous. Funny it drops the day they decimate shred.
If you plan around shako for your build, you should also plan your life around winning the lottery for your income. Both are about as likely.

Funny, I addressed that:
“Just wondering if more likely to see that helm in seasons.”
We don’t know how much has changed lootwise and we certainly don’t know if seasons will work differently. As mentioned I got several uniques in just over an hour of playtime. More than before patch and doing a variety of activities like legions, events, and whisper plus a world boss and a few nightmares.
