Are the devs actively trying to drive away Eternal players?

I very much doubt they have any plans at all at this point.

I agree. But the biggest problem is that these itemization changes were introduced for stat squishing. People on PTR are doing MORE damage with the stat squish then in season 5. There is no way Blizz has enough time to rebalance everything before season 6 launches. So this whole stat squishing thing seems like a step backwards now. And Blizz needs another season or 2 to fix it.

That has nothing to do with the changes that were introduced to facilitate the stat squish though, it’s because of the busted scaling on the paragon glyphs and that will get patched no doubt.

You say ā€œboring item system from beforeā€. Curious what is actually changing for 2.0 on this regard? They make a ā€œstat squishā€ which all it means is that flat damage, armor and health values are all reduced - this won’t make any difference in practice, max they make some balance changes with the values.
However items are not changing at all, this is not a change that happened when they introduced new affixes for uniques, etc. All they want to do is simply reduce all stats for eternal players for their items including as, cd, cs, etc. Practically simply nerfing the items without introducing any new or better gear into the game.

So curious, what is the change that you think will make the current boring item system better, and why is nerfing all stats outside of armor, health, flat damage is necessary for existing eternal items to make the 2.0 changes?

If this gets patched, don’t Blizz have to rebalance the game? Because even doing billions and billions of damage per hit, it still takes a long time to kill pit level 100 boss. I’m all for rebalancing the game but no way Blizz has enough time to do that before season 6 release.

Yeah and the reason for that is because they’re desperately trying to rush it out before PoE 2 comes out, which will only end in disaster.

Yeap, sadly. Seems like we took a step forward in season 5 but took two steps backwords for season 6. In season 7 we will prob take another step forward, etc… it’s always back and forth.

All item levels from 540 to 925 are being condensed into 540. This means (after the squish) I could have a trash 540 now and a perfect 925 and come 2.0 they are the same.

Additionally - legendary will max at 750, ancestral at 800.
Legendary will allow 1 temper, ancestral 2.
Legendary will allow 4 MW levels, ancestral 12.
Legendary cannot have GA. Ancestral will have 1+.
Ancestral will be very rare.

These tiers are light years apart in power.

What this means is:

-Our items are being downgraded.
-The next step is an ā€œupgradeā€ with less potential and versatility than we have now.
-The chase is items that function like the ones we have now.

This is BS.

Read my post, that’s exactly my point. I meant that they don’t change anything for the items that would require them to nerf existing 925 to 540.

You played every single Diablo game and expansion but somehow are unaware that Blizzard first release the games foundation and than builds upon it by integrating more and more content over months and years? Your post does not pass the smell test. Maybe you weren’t paying attention but Blizzard is just doing what they have always done. Boo Boo Hoo if you have to go out and find newer better gear for your external…

On the contrary, I was fully aware of that which is why I stuck around for as long as I did, because I wanted to give them a chance to fix things in D4 with VoH like they did with RoS for D3. I remember full well that D3 launched in a terrible state but even that pales in comparison to what D4 has been thus far. To this day I can log in on any of my D3 characters, some that I haven’t played in literally years, and none of their items or power level have changed. Same for D2. This has never been true for D4 and it doesn’t look to change any time soon, hence why I wrote this forum post. I really thought after well over 400 replies that would have been self evident by now.

dont listen or respond to ā€œderdofeā€ he is just a poor no lifer troll, his name means ā€œthe stupid oneā€ in german, but misspelled by design, ā€œder Doofeā€ would be the correct spelling.
He is just here to troll and enrage people…

U dont seem to know atleast.

They patching, updating, adding content just like a live service game. Its all expected. If its too much for u try a single player offline game.

Yeah, you don’t seem to. It’s first about having microtransactions that allow support to go on for very long. (And IMHO a bit iffy to call D4 that, due to the expensive base game and expansions.)
But new updates for years can happen even without the game being a live service one : just look at D3, which had yet another update at the end of 2023 !
And (and I am repeating myself), «reinventing the game every 3 months» is not uncommon in any new (= unfinished) game, even offline ones !

Well duh, D3 has been released 12 years ago, it’s a finished game now ! As you say - and as people have been giving specific examples of in this very thread already - D3 too had a rocky first couple of years, the game being completely reinvented then.

Ang (repeating myself again), this isn’t an issue in D2 for the main reason that it’s NOT an online-only game, and you can play however old version of it you want (and modded to hell and back (see Median XL) if you want).

Eternal should be stable default game.

Core game systems should not be redone this many times.

Live service isnt about fixing broken foundation repeatedly.

They admitted itemization was screwed up. We sat by as they redid mechanics plus increased the ilvl in season 2. We saw them redo all items in season 4. We saw them redo uniques and mythics in season 5 - this was the first time massivr complaints came forward.

Season 6 voh is another rework and it looks like more are going to have to occur looking at the ptr feedback.

This is NOT live service. This is fixing their dumpster fire.

D3 has stable itemization after ros and only had specific weapon or set changes for the whole series. Ancients and primals were affix increases / new power banding for power creep.

The items never went through a massive rework causing all your gear to be ā€œlegacyā€.
