Stupid question I know, but I was trying to recall if anywhere at any point in D4 they mentioned anything about nephalem at any point and I honestly can’t.
It’s not a stupid question at all.
Since the world stone has been destroyed in Diablo 2 events we will naturally and gradually see more Nephalens in Sanctuary. Yes the 5 classes are indeed Nephalens.
It’s kinda stupid they didn’t implement anything in the game about it seeing as it’s the whole reason we have our abilities and power. At least in D3 they had Orek giving us some lore about nephalem.
Yea I mean I’d be happy rally stupid if I’m
Just a random rogue just like all the random bandits I squash in dungeons and am able to slaughter armies of demons on my own if I don’t have some real super powers.
We should be nephelims as it’s the only logical reason we can do what we do and slaughter entire armies with our bare hands
Considering the monsters scale to your level, they must be nephs too…
Since they haven’t mentioned anything, as well as the feats that the Diablo 4 hero achieved, I would say that they’re heroes who managed to tap into their Nephalem heritage and potential, but they haven’t fully awoken their Nephalem power, at least nowhere near the extent of the D3 Nephalem hero.
Nah. And thank god. Watching all 12 of you d3 trash can cornballs flop like a fish is hilarious though.
Nobody cared about d3
They retconned the garbage nephalem thing.
Nope.
And with how weak our characters feel compared to literally every other Diablo game? certainly NOT Nephalem material.
Nephalems are feared by angels and demons.
We have polar bears attacking us in the wild.
That should answer your question lol
The whole “you are the chosen one!” kind of thing is played out. Like really really played out. The wanderer in D4 is still kind of a “chosen one” because of their reaction to Lilith’s blood petals, but it’s not nearly as nauseating and cliche as D3 was.
It would kinda be redundant to bring another Orek to give you the same explanation though. But i do agree it would be nice if they brought up more stuff about what happened in the past.
You would believe there would have been a good moment for Lorath telling us what once transpired in sanctuary and why you are so strong. But it also seem Tyrael didn’t teach him much.
I guess like a lot of stuff in the real world, it has been lost to time ?
Nephalem. Now there is a word I am glad I don’t have to hear Tyrael say every time I got back to town to empty my inventory.
Being a mortal is very complicated… My stomach feels strange… there is a lot of stuff im happy to not hear again going back to town lol.
I do miss Kormac tho. Lyndon (the scoundrel) got a nice cameo, would be nice to have a companion that knows how to deal with black magic barring our way, because the will of a templar is stonger!
Personally it’s simply because the Diablo 4 hero hadn’t achieved anything that matches what one would expect from a fully awoken Nephalem. Sure, they defeated Astaroth, Andariel, Duriel, and Lilith; but none of those foes were at the same strength as a Prime Evil. Meanwhile the Diablo 3 Nephalem had defeated a Prime Evil with all the great evils essences and an Archangel imbued with death plus the essence of the Prime Evil.
All in all, even the Diablo 2 heroes (said heroes weren’t even Nephalem as the Worldstone was still intact) had achieved greater feats than the Diablo 4 hero.
My Meteor Sorc is, cant speak for anyone else
I mean that sure make us look weak compared to just your average human defeating all 3 primes.
But overall you’d still think blizzard could have added some lore of past event to clarify stuff.
But then it make me remember what Neyrelle said in her letter to Lorath. Which was also one of the few moment i actually really enjoyed.
I want to go back to a “nobody” like in D1 and D2, not this over-glorified nephalem that’s placed on a pedestal. That’s for D3.
Actually they were. There were some things happening in the past. Some Examples:
- During lore events in the past Lilith messed with world stone in a moment creating a branch of news nephalens (this was after Inarius thing).
- Not mentioning that were nephalens who came to exist even when the worldstone was fully supressing their powers. So there are those who still holds the power of the nephalen but in much lower scale than the ancients.
- Speaking of the Ancients most of them keep passing their knowledge on (like Rathma) which results in their disciples being capable of tickering with their inner suppressed nephalen powers.
I think the PCS we play in diablo 4 are slightly different, because if they where Nephalem we would be walking power tanks like the Diablo 3 PCS where. WHAT we are I don’t know for sure, But the fact that the demons seem to think they can “talk sense” into us and don’t fear us the same way the diablo 3 Nephalem where feared that is why I think we are some type of Hybrid.
Now I also think we have not seen the last of the diablo 3 Nephalem either, yes he/she would be around 70 or 80 now but age really means little in this world it seems and they where beyond godly powers so I don’t see why age would slow them down at all. I am guessing the ‘problem’ or whatever fear Tyreal felt and the reason he left was because of the Nephalem doing something insane: Like oh I don’t know taken on, or down the high heavens.
Its clear from the diablo 3 ending they could take on angel and demon alike, the high heavens have been ‘silent’ and Tyreal, and the Original Nephalem are not around. I would not be shocked if the next Diablo 4 Exp is called Diablo 4: The holy crusade. We get paladin/ Templar / Crusader as the next class, Prava / Imperious feature as main Villains and we get more info on why the angels want to take us down.
Also wouldn’t be shocked if the next/last exp is called “the eternal war” and we are going against both the prime evils, and high heavens and just stuck in the middle: Exactly what Lilith wanted to prevent but we so smart we r the big brain and ruined that.
Actually they weren’t.
You’re talking about the Sin Wars event where Lilith first escaped the void and altered the Worldstone in order to allow Humanity to tap into their Nephalem potential and even allow them to become Nephalem. However at the end of the Sin Wars, the High Heavens had again altered the Worldstone in order to both erase humanity’s memories of the events of the Sin Wars as well as again lock away their Nephalem potential.
No. The only person who managed to tap into their Nephalem potential despite the Worldstone’s existence was Zoltun Kulle. Any powerful individuals, such as the ancient Horadrim, Diablo 1 and 2 heroes weren’t Nephalem nor did they have access to their Nephalem potential. They were simply powerful humans. Diablo 3 heroes were the first Nephalem of the new generations that had came about after the Worldstone’s destruction in Diablo 4.
None of which requires Nephalem potential.
