Having played all three, Diablo 4 has been FAR more satisfying from a play through perspective.
POE2 strong points:
-Boss design is great.
-Some interesting support gem leading to unique builds among the classes.
-Had a good campaign with great sound design and visuals.
Last Epoch strong points:
-Some of the most fun talent design I have ever seen in a game that gives more creative freedom without needing to get too sweaty over it.
-Tons of features that make playing easier when it comes to filters and customization.
Failure Last Epoch:
-Boring meandering through maps that have the most random mobs thrown together.
-Too much loot drops.
Failures for POE2:
Where do I start?
-The game is excessively punishing, one death failure and losing maps, losing XP in higher difficulty and sometimes poorly telegraphed executions from mobs.
-White mobs more dangerous than boss’s ones you have a defined build.
-Meandering and boring fog of war map system that gatekeeps you behind having to do 100 maps before you can purchase level 10 maps.
-Trials system with honor degradation is horrible for melee and buggy as hell where a white mob can hit you and you lost chunks of honor from a melee attack.
-While support gems are fun, you are severely limited for functional specs as there are meta already forming where it’s stupid to run anything else. Melee again feels awful
-The game feels slow and is based off dodge rolling.
-Game makes you backtrack on overly large maps consistently.
-Poor itemization as most of endgame is just rerolling affix on gear. Most legendary are complete trash.
-Game feels impossible at start and then depending on build you end up having skills that fill the entire screen so I guess instead of needing mobility you can just press a few keys to cover screen, so you don’t need to get to mob or let mob get to you. It’s a boring power fantasy seen in POE1.
-Armor doesn’t function properly as mana shield scales infinitely better to point where it feels dumb to stack armor even as melee.
I can go on and on. I had my fun in POE early access but past a campaign play through its really a letdown.
Diablo as a franchise has its issues but I think they should just power through borrowing best ideas from other action RPG. Definitely incorporate more of boss design from POE2 and some of the creativity in talent design from Last Epoch.
Also, should be a way to passively accrue coin over time for real money purchases for cosmetics so just playing you can get at least something. Other games in league and DOTA let you do this. Price tags are too high. In POE2 it costs like 40 to 50 USD for ONE single armor cosmetic set.
This is why opinions are great - everyone can have a different one.

You’re aware that this cosmetic set is then Univeral amongst all classes right? Unlike D4, where you pay what, 20USD for cosmetics bound to one class?
Oh, I am definitely not as well versed as you with a library like that but from my limited time in genre I feel like diablos 1, 2, 3 and 4 are VERY different games anyway.
The free game thing is a thorn in my side when explaining my perspective on the illusion of free. What you would normally have included is spread out into microtransactions.
I can’t blame any single game for this design shift philosophy with how pricey games are today.
But yeah POE2 has been a huge let down. I didn’t expect anything from Last Epoch while POE2 people are like worshipping at the altar. It’s VERY popular to poop on blizzard/ diablo and get on your knees for POE and grinding gear games.
You’re allowed to have this viewpoint, and no-one can take that from you. Just like I feel the opposite, and levelling Lightning Arrow Deadeye or Galvanic Arrow/Grenade Witch Hunter is the most fun i’ve had in a ARPG for a long time
I hope that Blizzard does something to make D4 fun again for me. I really do.

Its a different game, with its own strengths. i personally can enjoy both. The strong point in poe2 for me clearly is the boss design. Thats pretty hot for sure.
i also like punishing gameplay - not always mind you - but often enough. but yea, its for sure not everyones cup of tea
on the LE talent design i disagree btw. Sure, it does look kinda flexible and creative, but really, it doesnt really leave you too many options.
You’ll find the fanaticals of each group wherever you go. They’re typically the loudest while the majority never make a stink or voice their opinion vocally.
As long as you’re enjoying whatever video game you’re playing it doesn’t matter what these few people say. You wouldn’t think anything of people picking different toppings on a pizza, so you shouldn’t care about these people who tell you pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza.
I have my own gripes about all the ARPGs I’ve played over the years. No amount of negativity from other players kept me from playing them though.
Even D4 has a build for pit and speed farming, this is not an issue lol

Free to play never were a free game, paying is really optional (even if they convince you to pay for something promising heaven, but that is your idiocy paying), free game is more like Epic Games gifting games or some media or streamer doing giveaway cdkeys, you misunderstood the meaning of f2p lol

Yes, they also have some junk affixes. I like all the currencies though. I can do a lot to a piece of gear. What I don’t like is the rarity of some of them. Exalteds are way too rare to really build a set of gear like they said they wanted. The rest of the rare orbs, I dont really care about.
I’ve actually had an easier time crafting with that one orb that turns a white into a yellow with 4 affixes than I have going from blue.
You don’t. Warrior is definitely the worst class to try and play. It can still do endgame and even kill pinnacle bosses but compared to the other classes its not in a good state.

Uh I am a 78 warrior in POE2 clearing 10 maps. So, no, I am not at the pinnacle of content, but I am not watching streamers who I would argue are doing the contrary.
Most streamers are inflating how good the game is because it is adding revenue with many pointless guides and such.
Is it the better game? Not to most people but it is for you and that’s all you should care about, right?
