AoZ - giving up. Suggested changes

Completely demoralised. I won’t step foot in AoZ for the remainder of this season, and I feel that’s a relief. Time for me to peace out and enjoy another game and play an alt casually.

Since the changes i’ve been tweaking my build to balance defence and offense, enough damage to clear & push but also enough defence to generally survive. I was fairly enthusiastic I could push further - and have the damage to do so, but that always risks one shots the more I push.

I have made some progress, but eventually got progress walled from not enough damage even with the glyph, so had to build in more offense.

Problem is with those tweaks I need to then cover other areas - CDR/Resource. Something breaks then I end up having to re-tweak, and just can’t find a balance. I would be able to if the glyph exp was more - could grind it out to up my damage. However, farming AoZ runs at the level I need to reasonably up the glyph means i’m more likely to get one shot. It’s hit and miss. I just had a streak of being one shot by blood seekers 6 times over the past 2 days, draining my glyph powder.

I tried my best, despite max armor & resists, I’m still getting one shot. I’m out of sigil powder. I’d probably keep going if not for the sigil powder, but it’s just too frustrating. I can play really well, then just get RNG’d at the end with no shrine/ a bad seeker.

I would not mind a 0 revive dungeon if the seekers were fair. They aren’t. They need a shrine, or you risk a one shot.

Blizzard, some additional suggestions:-

  1. Please reduce sigil powder required to access the dungeon.
  2. Please tweak Blood Seekers. Wudijo recommended similar. They are just plain busted sometimes.
  3. Increase glyph exp again. Open this up to the community. If you look at the maxroll leaderboard, those who play this game alot are at most glyph level 60 (and it is 90 % barbs…). There is only 1 month until next season! There is no chance anyone is hitting glyph level 200 at this rate - why cap it at that level if it can’t be achieved, even close?
  4. A combo of 1 - 3 would let more classes experience the content and compete for at least decent tiers.

Hope that didn’t sound too whiny and no doubt there’ll be some “git gud” lol. I don’t really have the patience though, and just looking to have a fun challenge. This is anything but with the one shots and frustration.

I would also add the christmas event is very dull - there were cool christmas season things in D3 (remember the parcels with items in?) helltide v3 is just not fun.

I’ll level my rogue to 100 and peace out - hoping for a better experience in season 3. Very much losing faith in how the devs are getting this so wrong.

I agree with you on all these things. I enjoy AoZ but at this point for me glyph xp still isn’t enough. My glyph is at 28 I think and xp gains are so slow.

Also for melee the blood seekers that jump away can make or break a run when pushing.

I really like AoZ. But something just feels off about it. The furthest I’ve gotten is Tier 13, and I’m not running Selig. For the most part the survivability isn’t much of an issue, I do play a HoTa Barb, and the one thing that stands the most, is that it just doesn’t feel like the glyph offers enough power to the character. Now mind you my glyph is 22, it’s like 2.48x or something. My character is at 114x or something, and it’s just getting so hard. Doing simple math each increase just tells me the power given to players isn’t enough considering no other options to increase power exist, my items can’t provide anything better past 925 so it’s just not balanced properly. It’s also not designed for you to win anyways. I would venture a guess that tier 10 is probably a really good worthy tier to be proud of without Selig, anything past that is really really hard without broken items like Selig. So if you made it to 10 man I’d be happy with that. An extra 1 percent is hardly gonna make a difference

You don’t say what kind of progress you made. Bashkar complaining about getting to Tier 13. This isn’t content you are supposed to be able finish. 13 is pretty good. Most players happy if they can clear anything up to 5. There are players snapshotting to get higher clears, so hitting 12/13 is good. Try a different build/toon if you can’t squeeze anymore out of your current toon.

I believe Blizzard refers to this as “interesting choices”

a lot of these one shots are from broken vampire powers. dont use any of the dps ones like domination. i don’t know if they officially hot fixed that or not. they were 1 shotting me until i changed powers. now its xp aoz 7 in 3 minutes.

How does this snapshotting work if thats the new thing?

Its self sustainable if your not dying. I started with 1k dust im now over 200k dust.

They are fine after the nerf who cares what a streamer says.

I think they need to reduce xp requirements not increase the xp again.

I can’t beat 10. Don’t have the needed Ubers. I can’t tell you how many Helltides / Duriel runs I’ve done… Countless. I’m convinced that anyone who has multiple Ubers are buying mats from 3rd Party sites etc.

AoZ should be something that’s in every season. People like to earn titles and 4 weeks isn’t enough time for something like this. This is especially true for people who didn’t end up rolling Sorcs / Barbs.

This was never meant to be a completed project and it excluded builds that aren’t abusing bugs to approach completion. Right now it is thought you will need glyph level 120 on a hota barb to have enough damage to clear t25. That’s is fine but what about the builds that aren’t starting off hitting for a billion plus? Impossible.

It is a good beta to test numbers and see what they need from builds. Overall I hope they nerf it and fix the bugs allowing these monstrosities that would otherwise put us directly into a D3 meta.

The multi players is a bit annoying. I’m OK with 0 reviving, but it’s may cool if we can revive the others players or at least continue the dunjon without player’s who died. It’s fustrating you’ve been ejected because an other died.

or… do like diablo 3 and get time penality on dying.

So I’ll do my best to explain it without getting myself in trouble because in my opinion it’s an exploit and honestly cheating. You basically trick the system into thinking you’re running a higher ranked aspect by doing some swap shenanigans.

the best builds and those pushing the highest tiers dont use selig. we use banished lords talisman because we need damage

I appreciate that you’re really giving this thought.
My thoughts:
Maxroll, Icyveins, wowhead, etc usually provide only broken builds and/or ones that do not have resource sustain, etc. LEAVE THOSE SITES BEHIND. THEY ARE STUPID. Ahem, obviously, that’s just my opinion.

-Once you regard the usual build sites as garbage, you can begin to find ones that build resistances and defense into their basic build forming. They even bake resistances into paragon boards.

-One other piece of advice. When engaging with AOZ and you get the message that the bloodseekers are about to arrive, LEAVE the room. Otherwise, they arrive and one shot you and it’s all on THEIR terms. NO. Run out of the room and then turn around and engage them on YOUR terms.

I mean if you play Hota barb/ orb sorc you can strive to get AoZ 20 achievement title that is it.
For rest of builds it is just to provide data/feedback for future end game activity.
Myself I set my goal to AoZ10 and glyph lvl 10 both achieved and that is it.

You can easily get annoyed/burned off by AoZ and that makes no sense just mix it up if you feel like it or ignore and wait for future iteration.

I feel you friend. New events zir and winter its boring

Blizzard designers want you to play their boring content online 24 hours a day

AoZ wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the bloodseekers as the boss. I can get them to spwan at T15 with tons of time, but get screwed with RNG on top of RNG. I am using a non-broken build. I know HOTA and BL sorcs can cheese AoZ with broken builds but that isn’t fun or challenging to me. ATM trying to play a legitimate build in AoZ is hot trash.

-Have to have blast wave shrine near then end or it is a fail.
-Have to not get a caster blood seeker that also has teleport. (they teleport like every 3 - 5 seconds, which usually ends with them eventually doing a teleport out > lethal 1 shot)

I eventually get tired of trying to push necro to clear t15 and drop back down to t9 to work on glyph exp, but same issues with teleporting seekers. Even with 24k hp, 15k armor, max all res, they can still manage to randomly teleport > 1 shot out of no where.

They need to lower their damage output dramatically as AoZ is a race to get through their HP pool before time runs out. Having randomly burst spikes from them and RNG on affixes / shrines just makes it that much harder and frustrating to attempt to play.

I think if the tears gem expanded radius at 15 people would be motivated to play
