Anyone else's intro cinematic dark scenes look like garbage?

Not sure if this is tied to the hdr issues, but the intro cinematic visual quality was very disappointing. It doesn’t appear to be doing it in youtube videos from a couple months ago, but on my PS5 the dark scenes can spare only a few shades of gray and you can see the separation of those shades.

Normally I would attribute this to providing a very compressed video file, but want to know if it’s just my setup somehow, just the PS5, or what.

The HDR is a mess it makes all cut-scenes look awful. If you record and play them back they look fine, but the game is doing something with the HDR while the scene is playing that just ruins it.

Someone said turning off HDR on the console level helps (I have not tested this)

I haven’t had any issues with the cutscenes looking bad. Yes, on HDR. Yes, on 4K. Yes on XBox X.

Everything looks great. Maybe it’s a Sony thing.

This is still not solved for PS5. The cutscene ruined the immersion in the story for me and I see it every time in the shop corners.

You are just blind then as it does look like garbage on the Series X.

Yes, it’s an HDR issue on consoles. In general, I find the game has a slight washed-out look, no matter how much I tweak Brightness, Black Point, and White Point. It’s generally not that bad overall except for the Intro Cinematic, which looked awful. This is on Xbox Series X.

I have my Xbox One X in a different room hooked up to an older TV (no HDR), and everything looks great, including the Intro Cinematic.

I’d love to see an in-game option to disable HDR, as I’d do so. Not worth disabling it on the console-level though since all my other HDR enabled games look excellent.
