Anyone else getting headache's from zoom level?

“Up your character’s behind” level of FOV/Zoom seems to be the industry standard for ARPGs. No idea why. I’ve heard excuses trying to justify it, tho. It’s the one thing that irritates me across every ARPG I play.

Same here. I get wildly ill after an hour. I may have to just quit playing this game all together, wasted money, but the sickness is just not worth the play.

I will try turning off screen shake and give it another try as well.

I have 100% the same problem. Headache and nausea after about 30 mins of play. Make the game 3rd person already if you zoom it in like that. Nausea aside it is a big problem for ranged gameplay because everyome is in your face all the time or out of sight completely.

I had this with Elder Ring. The way the camera would fly around you and your target when you did anything, the changing of the angles constantly, gave me massive vertigo and it was completely unplayable.

ya. I always zoom out to minimum 90d FOV, especially since I use large displays to help see better.

when you’re on 36" Ultrawides, being stuck so close and up your characters rear is not great.

sometimes i get headaches and migraines

ever since starting this game ive had both but didnt put 2+2 together till a little while ago

ive got this on my tv so i can only imagine its much worse for monitors
and obviously it zooms out during the world bosses and mounts so they can do it
maybe the play testers have some kind of fov-disease or something

the zoom level combined with screen clutter and effects is just a recipe for disaster

You know that you’re not everyone right?
You know that some people does have different conditions, right?
Just google about gaming with zoomed in cameras causing nausea on many people.
Having the option to increase FoV or zoom out a bit usually solves it.

ALSO you can just NOT zoom out your camera if it was an option.

Because people are different than you.
I appreciate your passion for gaming and your strong opinions about how games should be played. You think it’s fine but it’s not fine for a lot of people. However, it’s essential to remember that gaming is a diverse and personal experience for everyone. Different people have different conditions than you and preferences, so if you don’t like it you have the choice to not do it, just keep your camera zoomed in as it is right now and be happy.
Your standards are NOT other’s standards. Your gaming experience and how you play a game can be 999% different on how others do it.

While it’s natural to have our own standards and expectations, it’s important to be open to different perspectives and approaches. There’s a thing called empathy.

Games evolve over time, and developers introduce new features and mechanics to cater to a broader audience, including those who are different than you.

Rather than belittling others or asserting your own standards as the only valid ones, you can just… Let people play their own way you know?

Ok, turning off screen shake seems to have helped at least a little.

Also getting massive headaches when I play more than about an hour. Turned off screen shake the first day, it helps but doesn’t fix it.

I had a lot of lag and rubberbanding, that also made it worse but it has been patched now.

I play a lot of other games and have NEVER had this problem before - and still dont in other games.

My theories for the cause are:
Reflections (seems worse in wet areas)
Microstutter (and your horse getting stuck on positively everything)
Viewing angle (the world boss encounter was some relief)

Probably a combination of all those. I played D3 for years also without issue, so it’s definitely something to do with how D4 is being rendered.

I’m mostly fine with the zoom, but monsters being able to one-shot you from off screen has no real skill-based counterplay, and the zoom ensures there’s often mobs you’re in combat with who are off screen.

No. I can’t play first person shooters for similar reasons. I am fine in this game and other Diablo games so long as it’s not first person. Also prone to migraines and suffer from PTSD.

the camera angle in relation to ground in D3 and D4 is different. D4 is way more “top-down” which results in very narrow FOV. This is causing the headaches.
In D3, the distance you can see above your character is much greater than the distance below your feet. I understand it has to be equal in D4 for PVP balance, but I don’t understand why it cant be tuned back in PVE areas.

Some people don’t feel it, but trust me, some do and it sucks!
It’s like the strobing effect - I don’t mind it at all, but I bet epileptic people do.
The game is fun but I can’t play more than 30 minutes without having the urge to puke all over my keyboard. Slightly different camera angle or zoom out in non-PVP areas would make a world of difference.

world boss zoom., would be chill just saying.

I don’t get any headaches or other problems but it is too close for me personally. Needs to come out at least another 25% I’d say.

Hey guys ! I have some badly headaches since D4 too I was thinking that i can’t look at screens anymore but find how to activate it… just have to play 1 hour of D4…

Ive been playing d4 since day one, i felt uncomfortable playing it, like a slight headache, but about 10 days ago i started experiencing vertigo and severe headaches, i didn’t link it to d4 initially, but when i stopped playing for a couple of days they went away.

What is going on here. ie why is blizzard doing nothing about this.

if i had to guess what causing it, its the zoom in zoom out thats is forced. Try to mount and dismount a lot in a short timeframe, it feels unnatural and the eyes need to constantly adjust to it.
