Anyone else agree that story was really bad?

I remember that d3 story (main campaign) was really more involving that D4 one. I don know if it is a matter of story itself or a matter of how it is telling in d4

seems to me like they are just trying to guarantee an income out of the series for a longer period of time than d3.

I really was kind of grumpy because this is the first diablo game where the main official release doesn’t actually include any appearance of diablo himself, and the 6 acts that we are given actually feel more like 2 or 3 acts, and the game isnt complete yet.
Do we not get diablo till the second expansion now? Are we going to watch Neyrelle do her thing and set the stage for his resurrection before getting a THIRD expansion to introduce diablo?
That would suggest we are then paying full price per act expansions of a diablo title. That’s getting a little excessive.

Thought the story was amazing, especially for arpg.

Oh please please don’t even say that.

I liked the first four acts.
The fifth felt like a chore to add 2-3hours to the story.
Concerning the last one idk, there were some good elements to it but some things made no sense to me.
Why do we trust Neyrelle that much ? She’s all new to it and yet we give her the nuclear codes and say “I believe in your judgement” … Come on.

I was hoping for more Inarius too, the release date trailer showed us how badass he is and we see him twice in the story, first time he cucks us and second time, he steals from us. Sure make a vilain of him but I wanted to see more of him, maybe fight him idk.

It would have been alot better if they used the tree and the soul stones to imprison heads, with soul stones in them, on the tree for eternity, removing them from the cycle of birth, death, rebirth. buuut nooo, we got w/e they call this games version of a story.

I fully expected lorath to take the soulstone into his head, before becoming apart of the tree, I was very disappointed it did not happen that way.

lol thats a fair point about Neyrelle. I played the campaign as a Barbarian…
Can’t imagine the Barbarian tribe would have been very trusting to anybody, nevermind letting a little girl decide the fate of the world.

I think thrall lets his mother get eaten by wolves or something in one of the WoD trailers because he doesn’t want to carry her fat *** around.

Thrall has a very strong will, and he does not care at all about the loss of human life.

This is what happens when equity is preferred over meritorious. The story isn’t even lucid.

It was very much a modern story. The only memorable parts to me were the ones with Mephisto being a sly bastard. Cant wait for his return. Oh, and Nyrelle in the ending pre-emptively apologizing for all the massive screw-up shes going to make made me laugh.

I rate it Diablo 4/10.

Thrall from WoD? World of Doorcraft?

I had a roommate who was 6’9" who thought I was afraid of his height and not his badge
(like every bully)

I wanted to say that without being so nice about it.

I think that the campaign was a bit rushed in parts where it should have taken it’s time and drawn out for parts that should have been glossed over. Inarius is a great example of this.

That being said…how the hell do you come to the conclusion D4 is worse than D3’s story?

D3’s story was a Diablo: comic book edition and was targeted at tweens. It had the atmosphere of StarCraft 2’s prologue (not a compliment) and the dialogue was extremely cringe.

There’s a reason why D3 is seen as the weakest Diablo game (not counting cash grab Immortal, I refuse to acknowledge that game’s existence)

I am confident that Blizzard Enternmainent, in 2023, can screw it up on a much bigger scale. Just you wait for the xpack.

i think the story is really dependent on whether it is a death penalty state or not

Lol the story was garbage, just let me kill cool unique mobs and bosses
