Any room in lore for bard type class? Lol

I wish more games would offer bards as classes. :frowning:

Barbarians already fulfil the role with partybuffing or enemy debuffing shouts.

Could be an interesting thing to fit in the game and make it potent in combat

Ideally both aspects being intertwined rather than being and bard+fighter

Like:

  • using a bow that’s also an Harp, where the chosen note imbues the arrow

  • using a Lute that has an round cutting edge around the body and is usable as an axe

  • sings like a siren to make monsters fight by his side

  • sings as multiple people creating mirror images of himself

  • sings high pitch note that pierces the ears of nearby monsters disorienting them

  • shield is a Cymbal which reflects damage when hit

  • etc

After witch doctor nothing is off limit

This doesn’t answer any of OP’s questions. You don’t have to reply like that kazedarkwind contrarian everytime someone hints at support.

There are a bunch of vocal anti-support fanatics here, you won’t get quality answers. Even if a “support” oriented class can build full DPS, they won’t be having any of it, even if the classes support skills do not overlap with Barbarian and Druid (which themselves overlap somewhat).
They are incapable of imaging support skills in various different categories

PS. I don’t believe a Bard with an offensive harp fits the theme in Diablo. You might have to consider a Bard in the FF14 vein, or classic Bard with some buffs and then the class is a duelist of sorts.
Cleric/Priest as another support-capable class can be spec’d to War Cleric, so that fits too

Also, can you imagine how annoying it would be to hear the harp noises constantly. Reminds me of why I never played bard in Lost Ark. But on that note, while I think there is room for a sound based class, I can’t think of one that wouldn’t be annoying as hell to hear over and over and over again.

Maybe one based on vibrating the air but not making audible noise?

This is pretty dumb and I would ignore this.

When asking for more diversity or more gameplay styles and content, you will be met with answers like this OP.

Of course there is room.

“Hey, it’s super fun to play the exact same characters for a decade over and over and do the exact same content over and over”…. said no one ever.

No. No bards. No bards allowed.

What about a classic swashbuckling Bard? Basically a fighter with a lyre, a lute, or a flute.
Anyways, you’re right. Cleric before Bard.

Na Bard are too much Korean.

make a European one then

Whenever possible, I roll a Gnomish Bard. Rocking that 16 Charisma and custom accordion.

They never finished Bard. But it’s in the game files for Diablo: Hellfire. Just google it and you’ll see.

I would think a bard is far too positive in this depressing world. I bet the inarius church would censor/hunt them. I guess a bard needs to be something else, like a death speaker who preaches doom and gloom. Who in reality is a half demon that can eat other demons to get their abilities.

Blue mage reference of some ff games.

Nah just bring stuff back like Battle Orders, Oak Sage and Paladin auras whenever we get the paladin

NO

Learn to distinguish a hell/dark environment games from a regular fantasy game

Putting a Bard in D4 would be like as if Dark Souls put a Bard, simply not good

Yes, it’ll be very difficult to make a Bard fit the milieu in D4. Still a surprise that Sierra was pushing for a D1 Bard, but nice to see they were leaning heavily on the DnD classes, as I think they should even now.

Not because I’m a DnD player, but these are classic troupes that have a wide reach

That is a NO from me. Thank you for Bard in D4, nopes.

And we shall slay demons and angels with our mighty…flute. No thanks. Not in the world of Diablo. It just doesn’t feel right.

Vanguard Saga of Heroes Bard = 2nd best Bard ever. First place goes to Bards Tale for sure ^^.

On the actual topic… to me the whole setup of Diablo 4 looks like everyone ad their grandmothers are far to depressed to even want to make music and rather live in their dumped down state.
With the priest from the early cutscene in act 1 I think bards might most likely be crucified anyway because a religious fanatic most like forbid fun anyway.

wat.
The opening scene has the townsfolk jiving to folk music while they slip you a roofie. Very merry.
Anyways, the focus shouldnt be on the music with a Bard. They’re fighters, duelists, sometimes rangers
