Any Reason to Continue HC?

Any Reason to Continue HC now that the competition is over?
I mean its just solo, pvp scene really isn’t there, you die that means 100+ hours all over again.

I think some of the hardcore streamers to 100 changed to softcore.
So any reason to continue?

Did they expect 1000 players to make it to 100 this early?
They had the competition until September, going to assume season 1 starts September/October 2-3 months from now. Going to be a long dry spell now that the competition is over and not much group game in this game.

What source told you that?

any source will tell you the season starts mid to late july

There is no official word. Only speculation that it will.

I’ve never played HC to compare myself to others. I play HC for myself. Without the possibility of losing a toon to doing something stupid it becomes WAY to easy to just do stupid things… “What? The dungeon is 15 levels above me? Meh… why not… what’s the worst that can happen?” How is that compelling? I tried going back to my WW Barb but even WT4 is a snooze fest in this game.

Now, that’s not to say Blizzard should be OK with the current state of HC. It’s a freaking hell hole of stupid bugs crashing/freezing people and killing them. Then there are the monsters stuck in walls that can attack you but you can’t fight back. Congrats, Blizzard, you managed to recreate one of the most annoying bugs from D3 hardcore… unkillable monsters!

Because you enjoy death being a meaningful deterrent within the game experience. Thank you, that will be $15.

Lost 3 heroes already due to disconnects, the last one 10 minutes ago. Blizzard HAVE TO FIX this, because so called HC is completely unplayable atm. 70$ base game + a tone of extra cash from shop, early access and battle passes for what??? This garbage here?? No thanks! I’m not planning to continue unless a solution is implemented. 25 years of Diablo and still the same circus as in day one. The joke called Scroll of Escape is completely useless, when their servers crash, which happens every day. Appears that you can’t die because you are bad, but because of their disinterest to solve the main issue in HC mode!

DCs notwithstanding. Hardcore is a joy to play for its own sake. So that effort, decisions, and consequences all matter and the adrenaline that comes with it. Never played sc in d3 and likely won’t in d4. Couldn’t care less about ladder or competiotions. Really looking forward to them stabilizing the servers and making scrolls auto work.

People don’t play hc specifically for the competition, but because it’s not just mindless blowing up enemies. You have to think and stay focused, a few seconds of distraction can kill you no matter where you are.

Softcore just feels pointless.

So u can dc and die think that about will sum it up

I hear ya, I don’t play HC because of other players/streamers. For me it’s the only way to play and stay focused. Once I went HC in D3 I never went back.

Hardcore is just how I play Diablo, the competition was a neat bonus to chase. I’m sure people will still play HC.

You could but in my experience a hard dc teleports me to the nearest town escape scroll style. Haven’t died once to anything but skill issues

There are tons of people who play HC simply because they like it, and not to compete. For example I foresee myself losing 20 HC characters while trying all the classes in the next 2 to 3 years in casual game time, and I’m fine with it.

There are people who seriously do HC pvp, and it was huge back in the d2 days too.

There are all sorts of reasons to play HC.

Honestly I was playing for the race of top 1000 to 100.
Suppose to end in September,
its only June, still have July, August. Feel like it was ended too quickly.

Really burnt out, no desire to do same stuff over and over, like nightmare dungeon again again again.

Feels like Diablo2, but honestly I prefer Diablo2 over this game. This game needs more on top of Diablo2 for me which it doesn’t have.

Might come back for seasons, honestly probably not.
Diablo 2 is just better, skins during the time, models and what not its more 2000s vibe.
Diablo 4 looking at models skins, enemies, etc. It’s like fortnite kind of vibe, 2020s, Gen Z video game. Which is ok I suppose. Being a Millenial though, I sure miss 2000s video game vibes.

Pretty sad the race ended so quickly though, I did the early access too. Suppose I should have done the research on how to bum rush to 100, what to do, not sure how 1000 people got there so fast, or died at 90 and still made it on 2nd run.

Honestly now race is over, game doesn’t have 2000s vibe, Diablo2 vibe, plays like Diablo2 but the vibe isn’t there. It’s fortnite skins/vibe, Gen Z.
Being a millenial too, I want to spend more time, but I just don’t see the point in this game to do what I do in Diablo2 and back in the 2000s.
More time concious, Diablo4 not worth my time really, or to continue playing, feel like I done everything.

Quests/Aspects/Achievements its just so time consuming not really rewarding just a carrot on stick and is it worth running on treadmill for a carrot? Could go after something better more rewarding, better use of time. Not really into Gen Z vibe video games.

Diablo 4 is Gen Z vibe, screaming isn’t that squirmish, graphics not really rated M like the games from 2000s that kind of rated M, end game boss, Lillith seriously not scary at all, just things character says kind of kiddie

Diablo 2 is a 2000s video game, Andarial scary AF, die maggot, her model/skin scary compared to Diablo4/ or lillith in diablo4. How hard yet fair the mechanics were, Andariels poison its not 1 shot but it HURTS your clicking on the potions your stacking poison pots. Duriel smacking 80% of your hp like nothing, Diablo4 Duriel is a joke.
Player model/skins 2000s vibe, the scenery the music, sound effects, etc. 2000s vibe.

I’ve died in D4, its because of one shot things. Death Pulse whoops didn’t know it took out all my hp, whoops didn’t know Rotsplinter has some crazy mechanic 1 shot. Whoops didn’t know cellar puzzle plate can 1 shot. 1 shot 1shot 1shot. As long as you know not to things 1 shot you’ll make it to 100. As long as you do the certain thing like dungeon repeat that sweeties know about, or something you’ll make it to 100.

So honestly, Diablo4 is kinda like Diablo2 playstyle but honestly its 2023. The vibe is completely different. Same playstyle but vibe. I’d rather be in Diablo 2 expansion doing endless nightmare dungeons then do it in Diablo4.
I’m kind of done with Diablo4, was somewhat fun trying to race to 100, was expecting it be like Diablo2 honestly, getting to 100 takes a bit of time, from them saying

“we will put top 1000 or whoever made it by September”
made it sound like it tough to get to 100, but already done, 2-3 months ahead of schedule, too easy. Gen Z too easy. I suppose I don’t well in races that are too easy.

Pretty bummed the race is over, 1000 people already made it to 100.
Maybe however many copies sold, say 10 million.
Well I suppose out of 10 million players 1000 people would have made it to 100 by now.
