Hi. Just checking in with the game again.
Did the developers announce anything about adding a group finder to the game yet?
Hi. Just checking in with the game again.
Did the developers announce anything about adding a group finder to the game yet?
Nothing in that regard so far.
Figures.
Guess I’ll check back in again in January.
January of what year?
They said in the last dev stream that they recognize the demand and its something they are “looking into”
Its was a statement made about improving social features in general like improving clan functionality and group finders, etc.
The question is why they are releasing S2 mechanics that favor group play without native support for group play…
yea, id assume itll be a thing for season 3. Since they acknowledged it im pretty sure they are working on solutions for this.
I like to play solo so that’s not much of an issue for me.
Maybe we get LFG for this mmo upon first expansion. When we can pay for features and fixes that should have been in the alpha release a few months back that we paid $70 for.
I don’t think a group finder is that important in such a game, if you need to play with people you have to join a clan or a discord. Also this game isn’t an MMO whatever marketing says.
Group finders/matchmaking/lobbies aren’t a MMO feature. Its pretty standard in any online games where people would want to do content together. Pretty sure most ARPGs have ways in game to group up with random strangers if you want to. The method is just different becuase those other games don’t have a shared multiplayer world by default, so they can just have host/join game lobbies or whatever.
D4 created a shared world multiplayer experience, but then left out any reasonable/convenient way for those players to actually group up for the instanced content like dungeons.
Clans and discord are not viable answers, otherwise every other online game with clans and discord wouldn’t also have grouping tools that are widely used by the playerbases.
I mean they decided to make Duriel farming 16x more efficient for groups, so I’d argue heavily against what you’re saying
A group finder in a dead game is probably very far down the list.
Use 3rd party apps for group finder.
Suggest also update Tinder profile to read looking for Dungeon runners. Swipe right to party. Or is it left?
Not to be antagonistic, but what exactly would be the purpose of a group finder in D4?
Realistically, not in theory. Like, what would you do?
Join quick pickup groups for nightmare dungeons, helltides, the upcoming s2 bosses etc. Isn’t that kind of obvious?
Not really. I still don’t get what’s the point since you’re not going to interact with anyone anyway.
Players that are keen to engage in such activities already do that in my experience. The tools are there and people are using them. Maybe I’m old but I don’t see how automation can help at all in this regard.
How are they engaging in it without going to 3rd party sources like discord or whatever, which is incredibly annoying compared to in game matchmaking?
The only realistic way to form a party in game is through your friends list or clan. That’s terrible design for an online multiplayer game, especially when the clan finder is completely worthless (or was last time I playes anyway).
I can understand that there’s a lot of people who don’t care and wouldn’t use it. But there are also a lot of people who would. What I don’t understand are the people who wouldn’t use it who then argue that there’s no need for it and no one else should want it either.
Clans, and party invites. The majority of my multiplayer experience in D4 was through party invites. No discord, no friends list, nothing.
What I don’t understand is why people claim it’s necessary when in reality it’s clearly not. Except for Legion events and Helltides, grouping in D4 is not a very social experience. In fact, dungeons suck since everyone takes a different route, there’s no interaction there at all.
What does that mean, party invite? Who is the party invite coming from if not your friends list or clan?
Nobody is saying its necessary. Yes, I used the word “need” but that’s obviously not instended as a literal statement that it is an absolute necessity for the game. It would just make the game more fun for a lot of people. Not you maybe, and that’s fine.
