I am curious how good it is…
I kind of hit my limit at Infernal Hordes 4 / NMD90 (I could do NMD100 obviously but boss too slow) with my Liam Neeson / Charged bolt build. Looking for an upgrade idea!
I am nowhere near soloing tormented uber boss I reckon…

I’m doing hydra + firewall but my build has stalled around the same spot as you. Maybe it’s just built bad but I’d like to think it’s at least somewhat thought out. I basically feel there’s just no more multiplicative damage I can find. Even if I get another %50x from some magical place I still don’t think I could do a tormented boss or T5 hoards with it.
High level options I can see to try:
- Ditch firewall, go full direct damage with meteor and hydra.
- Ditch firewall and go full conjurations only (I really would like a winterglass if I do this, but I’m out of boss mats
).
- Give up all defensive skills and try to run Tenuous Destruction somehow. I can’t see how this doesn’t result in me just dying.
- Give up and just switch to fireball lol

I can solo Tormented Grigory now. I got my very first Uber EVER since this game has been created lol. I got the Ahavarion. I wish it was something else but probably I can use this for PvP. He dropped 5 other uniques.
I was looking at the numbers and I’m doing at least 4 mil or more average in Burn. Pretty sure I saw an 18 million burn there. My build is Firewall with Flameweaver where Firewall is my main damage dealer.
Multiplicative value sources so far:
- 35x Control aspect
- 38x Creeping aspect when staggered
- 76x Tal Rasha (legendary 541 Item Power lol. I’m still farming for a better Sacred or even Ancestral lol)
- 42x Godslayer
- Firebolt with Flameweaver 55x (I don’t think this counts in the burn though)
- Glass Cannon 36x
- Tactician 10x
- Unleash 8x
- Elementalist 15x
- Control 10x
- Exploit 10x
- At full buffs, I think my attack power goes from 25K to 60K
Edit: Just got Tormented Zir after a couple of tries. Once you learn his attack pattern (with decent dps), he is straightforward to kill. He dropped nothing useful

You convinced me!
Gonna start a new wizard to do that Firebolt build!
Meanwhile I tried the Arced Bolt / Lam Nesem build (carried me to 100)
The Chain Lightning build… oh so god, breeze through NMD100 so easily
until you meet the single dungeon boss. Then it’s so terrible.
Now doing a Fireball build really easy and breeze through NMD and kill the boss! Actually… it might be able to kill tormented boss and do Infernal Hordes 6, will have to try… but my current version is unoptinmised…
I just did a Tier 100 Nightmare Dungeon with pure Hydra build. My only damage was hydra. I didn’t go for burn like I see a lot. I went full Crit Strike Damage.

Oooo… nice one I did hear that Hydra was buffed this season!
Can you solo do tormented boss with it?!
That is an impressive glass cannon! What are you using to trigger tal rasha’s with multi element? Do you have ice blades or lightning spear or something?
I re-specced to fireball yesterday so having a run of that. I sort of wish I just made a new sorc instead
So for the 4x Tal Element:
- Fire (Firewall)
- Frost (Frozen Orb enchantment with Vulnerable chance upgrade)
- Poison (Focus Lucky Hit 40% chance)
- Lightning (Teleport)

well, hydra has no way to hold enemy back, its damage is not great and its lucky hit is too little to none.
i tried to temper +2 Crippling Flames (to immobilize burn enemy) into multiple gears and stacked them to +6 ranks, and hydra still unable to trigger immobilize to a bare minimum extend.
whereas when exchanged to bouncing fireball, it excels, enemy getting immobilized across the big hall to get roasted.
to me, hydra is useful with
- aspect of concentration, to which summoning it every 5 seconds for damage reduction,
- stacking the conjuration mastery rank in no time + no cooldown + not mana demanding.
My Lucky Hit Chance Bonus is 120%. I use Crippling Flames rank 3 and Frost Nova as an Enchantment. It doesn’t hold all of them back but it does a decent job.

i think hydra is using its pyromancy skill lucky hit chance, i.e. 3% rather than character’s lucky hit chance.
in this case, each hydra head firing has 3% window, once entered this window, will have 21% (double if healthy) chance for crippling flames to kicks it. thats about 1.26% chance for the investment.
perhaps try conjuration fortune tempers to increase the hydra LHC would help.
I’m trying to do a new sorc on Hydra as the main damage now now. Has a long way to go. I know the lucky hit on hydra is super low but with fists of fate you could get it to 4% then try to trigger creeping death with it (this is my current plan lol).
I know 4% is low but max head hydra shoots a lot of bolts. I’m hoping it can at least take down a boss. Maybe this is pure hopium on my part.
As a hydra enthusiast, I have hydra full decked with 14 heads. My build is critic not burning. However, I am getting significant contributions from lighting spear.
My skills are:
Hydra
Lightning spear
Ice blades
Teleport
Fire shield
Frozen orb
Gear:
Head - Shako
Chest - Tyreal
Hands - leg with the extra hydra aspect
Legs - leg with 25% damage reduction with conj skill.
Boots - Esu
Amulet - Fractured glass
Rings - starless and Tal Rasha
Main hand - splinter lighting… I think. The one that does additional damage with light spear.
Off hand - Frozen orb aspect
Yes 3 ubers, but the one that really matters here is Shako. I heavily rely on CDR both offensively, to spam lightning spear and defensively to spam sheild.
For paragon, pretty much everything that buffs conj skills. I also have the power fire legendary paragon.
I easily farm pit 101 (around 4 mins) and tormented bosses. I think I can push pit 115 - 125, through I would not bother until pit bosses bug is fixed.
Downside, the build is very spammy, as both Ice Blade and lightning spear CD falls under 1.5 sec when kicking on all cylinders. Also, the screen noise is crazy. Not on the level of flame shield, but 3 hydras with 14 heads and million lightning spears, ice blades and frozen orbs can be very distracting. Upside, safe to play as you rarely get in melee range. Can still deal significant damage while not attacking. And for most non-pit content it is very relaxing. Just dump the hydras and they will murder everything.

Check his latest vid instead. Better overview.
I just built my 2nd Sorc. I got it to level 100 last night. It’s a Conjuration Sorc similar to my S0/S1 build (not the LS/FO Conjuration you see around in S5).
It’s strong and pretty much relax mode. I just cleared Pit 90 without sweating much. It would had been faster if there were more elites.
My key gear:
- Andariel
- Temerity
- Esu
- Ahavarion (worst Mythic Uber according to a lot of folks)
Andy + Temerity = constant barrier uptime
Ahavarion + Andy = massive all around stats with a lot of movement speed and attack speed.
I use my Hydras as my main source of damage with about max attack speed. Use Ice Blade and Spear for crowd control. Use Blizzard as mana dump and crowd control too. Ahavarion easily refills my mana.
Most of my gear is 8/12. My tunic and gloves are still 5/12. My paragon is 5 board (leveling board. I would switch it to 6 board when I reach a wall)
I’m running a conjure build, and running 8 heads per Hydra is really fun. Yes I’m primarily using LS but Hydra is great fun especially in hordes. Running t6 so I don’t need flame shield yet, even so I think I’ll drop IB before I drop hydra
