Hi there,
I’m more of a casual player, to state it first. And I tend to play Barbarian, with exception of a couple of seasons.
I have tried it as a hardcore Barb in season 5 and the core skills are just broken. The easiest way to confirm that is trying to play with a Barb when you are around lvl 60… You might have an acenstral 2h that has the potential to deal TONS of damage to mobs at your lvl, yet as you haven’t yet unlocked all secondary buffs and bonuses that drive the damage for core skills (like max fury or berserk dmg) you simply deal laughable damage. A rogue in the same situation OBLITERATES mobs with its core skills at lvl 60 whilst a barb needs to completely rely on cooldowns or dust devils.
The state of how bad Barb is just shows how clueless devs are about the class for those that do not play 24/7, which I assume are the majority of players. Is there any confirmed changes in the patch notes that expect to address this mess in core skills?
S6 will introduce +Core skill damage to weapon tempering. This should alleviate some issue with Core skill people keep complaining about. Personally, I haven’t used Core skills since S3 mid patch so I won’t know why people have problems with it.

Additive Core Skill Damage is garbage and lackluster.

We’ll see how it goes. Core skill double damage is also a thing. I’m not sure where blizzard wants the ‘balance’ to be at. Seems Rogue is suppose to be middle of the pack for Season 6.
Core Skills are not the only thing to get this treatment. Some Basics did, Weapob Mastery, Brawling, IM, Ground Stomp, and Earthquakes also received that same benefit.
It is pretty obvious that Earthquake DD is going to be the Season Meta and people are going to complain because it is going to spam the entire screen with Quakes and DD.

Does this mean I can at least use DS with Windlasher? Personally, I’m finding DS builds pretty fun to use.
Actually, that “Double Swing hits Twice” temper should mean you get twice as many DD when that procs, right?
It should but there’s a cap on dust devils at 15 counts.
I wish we would be so lucky if “Hits Twice” means it is like pressing your Skill button again without a Fury Cost. This would mean Lucky Hit should roll again and that attack has a separate DD proc, Crit Chance, Overpower Chance, etc. Anything that returns Fury like Voracious Rage or Slaking should be very powerful and basically give you Double Fury return. Unbridled and Lucion’s would effectively have half the penalty.
I would be a pony though that so much stuff ends up being straight up broken and not working.
The new tempers are multiplicative.
I thought that was only for the Tempers under the Weapon category? Because the +Core Skill Damage affix was under Offensive, so it wouldn’t count.
Or did Blizzard mean all Weapon Tempers, and just used a confusing name.
I took it as tempers on weapons.
Who knows. It’ll probably be negative damage.

I understand that, but for lvling it might actually do its things. My main issue is Core Skills’ damage during lvling really
