Another one from Wowhead "Blizzard Doesn't Want to Force Group Play." Really now?

  • Blizzard does not want to force players to play in a group in order to obtain the best gear in the game. They want to make sure that everyone can play the way they want to play. Aislyn added, “When it comes to power progression […] we want there to be primary sources but we don’t want them to be exclusive”.

  • Players will lose out on potential power if they choose not to utilize Mercenaries since there will be no alternative buff to their function.

  • During playtesting, some newcomers took “a little over 3 hours to complete the [Dark Citadel]” while some QA testers cleared it “in just over an hour”.

But you set the drop rates so low outside the primary source that it’s effectively exclusive.

And when you give a 4x bonus to group play it’s clear what you want players to be doing.

Then they need to get rid of boss rotations and force every player to pay for their own boss fight.

Don’t forget to cut off loot from Helltide Blood Maiden unless you pay the 3x Baneful Hearts personally.

But I’m quite positive that would seriously anger lots of players!

and the hits just keep on rollin’
(ofc it’s ALL clickbait)

This can be classified as gaslighting. It literally takes at least 4 times longer to complete a build if you are playing solo.

Total BS if I must team up with others to run a 1 - 3 hr dungeon I am not playing the way I want to. Right now 100% of D4 can be played with others if you want. Starting with VoH we will not be able to play all content 100% solo.

Hehe 3 hours of puzzles. Sounds amazing. Like the traps in the vault.

Meta builds will probably be able to clear the Citadel in as little as 10 minutes. The difference between meta build damage and off-meta is 50x-100x.

At least something good:

“It’s really important […] when you’re playing an ARPG that the most efficient way to play evolves, because if we get to a point where the best thing to do in the game hands down is one activity […] eventually doing that day in and day out will get a little boring”.

The Party Finder will be available to test on the upcoming Patch 2.0 PTR.

I can deal with the P2W mercenary if overall gameplay becomes more meaningful.

Expect more co-op features to be added for the Game Pass Gen Z players.

This I believe is true. As we’ve already seen the only loot is a cache of goodies, a scroll for retempering, and coins for cosmetics.

That being said, I would still enjoy a solo version of these dungeons. In fact how about a solo version with its own cosmetics that can only be found in the solo dungeon? If we’re going to segregate the player base might as well do it on both fronts.

I knew people and still know people, that play game(s) not for the gameplay, but for the day-trading sim experience. I blame that film the Wolves of Wall St.

 I mean I guess some people can see it that way, but if you’re already paying for the expansion is it really P2W? Considering you can’t do certain content in the game without having the expansion, regardless if you take on a mercenary or not.

Yea, I was going to add that. If VoH is good enough and I end up buying it from sale, then it does not even matter. Right now I don’t have any plans to buy the expansion.

I am sure a lot of people purchased the VoH long before they even knew about the Mercenary system. Some people sure do love to use the P2W ploy. Remember the guy who was going on and on about “fee” Battlepase?

diablo 4’s development framework is geared toward an MMO direction, with the studio drawing on the success factors from WoW. :money_mouth_face:

75 Platinum/week would do it. Then the BP becomes “free”, rofl.

100% wholeheartedly. Was my copium ‘best scenario’ for the past 15-mths, until all these Gamescon interviews’ details.

Fool-me-once, with p2w e.g. mercs not coming to base game, withholding back QoLs timelines repeatedly … has turned me into a non-believer - D4’s motives and directions.

Well if the vast majority ignore the Dark Citadel then it’s likely it would be opened up for solo play, but guess, what they won’t. They will party up grumbling all the way and do the dark citadel.
